I had my truck with me at work yesterday, and it just seemed to drive itself to the local race shop and acquire this on the way home. I got the BK fixed base, and am going to try the swap the seat out routine. Might dabble in the mount to the stock sliders at some point as well.

I thought about it, but it's likely to end up not getting removed every now and then and I didn't want that for street driving.
If I race car at some point I'll buy a proper Halo seat. I did like the Sparco and the Recaro halo seats. It's nice to have 425 motorsports local, and on my drive home. They literally have almost every major race seat in stock to try out and sit in.

I've never heard about the burger motorsport cabin air filters before, that's really cool. Even if you don't need the space to mount reservoirs it's nice having quick access to your brake fluid reservoir, especially at the track.
One question though - how did you deal with the hood open/close checker sensor integrated into the oem cowl? Did you just short circuit the plug? |

^^^^ I just removed it. Didn't give any errors.
Got the seat installed. Although I installed an OEM seat belt tensioner and plugged it into the harness I still get the airbag error because all the other stuff isn't connected. It's pretty annoying. Maybe I'll have that coded out, or I'll just ignore it. The Sparco Evo is just a touch tight for me on longer drives. I drove the car to work a few days with the seat installed and it creates a few pressure points that start to create discomfort, a little numbness etc. For short stints it just feels secure, but after an hour or so you certainly notice the discomfort. Hoping it will break in a bit with some laps. But I'll be pulling it out and doing the swap right after events moving forward. Brake pads are in the same boat. I can leave the PF012 pads in for about a day or so after an event and they act pretty normal, while the material is being removed from the rotors. Once the embedded material is gone they are massively loud with a head piercing squeak. So I'm going to pull them directly after events as well. And with that, it's time to go to the track again tomorrow.

hmmm I don't recall my airbag light going off until I switched the steering wheel. It could be from unplugging then plugging?

Had the car out on track yesterday and ran into an over heating issue. It wasn't that hot, mid 70's but 3/4 of the way through the 4th session the dash alarmed and said "coolant sign". So I came in and let it cool down. Went out the 5th seesion and after about 4 laps I got the service engine soon light. Came in and checked it and it was coolant temperature range error. Driving home I realized on had the climate control on the whole time, set at 72. Not sure if that played into it or not. So I've got some work to do. I also got an increased emissions alarm.
When I installed the CSF radiator I followed the BMW mix and I'm sure it's like 50/50 coolant and water. I typically run straight water with water wetter for the track - so maybe I need to do that here as well. Thoughts?

No, same tires. But this was my 2nd time at this track and the 1st was mostly figuring it out and then dealing with making myself motion sick. I was getting a lot more out of the car this visit.

if that is actually what is wrong, its a $75 part, and a plenum-off job.

Hmm thats good to know as well.
Another error. I just put my OEM seat back in for the daily driving and although everything is plugged back in I still have all the airbag errors. Do these need to be reset somewhere. It seems like simply plugging stuff back in wasn't good enough, or maybe I missed pushing a connection all the way in.

if you actually removed airbags, you probably have a different issue.

All I did was remove the OEM seat and install the race seat, with an OEM buckle tensioner. I was able to make the OEM connection to the buckle, but none of the other things that the OEM seat has. This triggered an airbag error as there are no seat airbags or occupancy sensors. That all made sense. After the track day I then reinstalled the OEM seat and made all the connections. But even though everything is back in place all the errors are still there.
Bought a new temperature sensor. Going to try and replace that as well as moving to a higher percentage of water in the cooling system via a couple radiator drains and fills with water only.

have you looked into water wetter? i'm not sure if you store your car in the winter or not... i think dogbone is running water wetter and distilled water.

What's the blue handle attached to at the bottom right of the pic? Its color goes with your shoes so well!
Also, what else can that scan tool do? I need to get one of those. I hated using an old computer and the clunky kluge software to make the BMW scan software work on the E46M3. Would like to have something now that my M3 is getting on in years. I can't believe it'll turn 7 soon! They grow up so fast now...
