High Mileage E9X M3's, you out there?

102K miles, original rod bearings, original shocks & struts, replaced throttle actuators at about 70K miles, replaced valve covers & gaskets at 100K miles. Besides that, basic maintenance. Car sees lots of track time and aggressive driving.

150k 2008 6mt. Runs like new. RB done. Clutch once. Just regular maintenance some bushings. That's about it. Will sell at 200k lol

Are you getting the oil light on startup yet? I think around 160k, it will always be on (change oil indicator).

Yeah, around 160k, the "change oil notification, counter" is going start at 0. I heard it a sensor/software issue. You can reset it, but on next startup it will go back to 0 and start counting backward.

Just bought a 2008 e92 m3 with 175k. Will be replacing pre-cat o2 sensors tomorrow, after that I still have a slew of errors/codes that I need to work on. Hopefully I will not regret this purchase lol

Bought mine at 123k on a Friday. That Saturday the sunroof headliner fell off and sprinkled that orange crap around my car.

Week after that I got a nail in my new tires.

Week after that, second nail, same tire.

Month after that, driveshaft started clunking

TAs after that.

Been a dream since I shook out all those age globlins in the first year or so

I did a lot of required and preventive maintenance in the last few months at 159k miles. Replaced the t-stat which was the main reason for the maintenance but ended up doing a whole lot more at this mileage. Lol. Finished the coolant flush and cleared the code. Then 2 short drives later, I get codes for precat O2 sensor, secondary air pump and additional water pump. Hope that's all for now. But I still smile every time I floor this car.

I eventually got the entire headliner reupholstered at a shop, initially I took the piece out because it was an eyesore, which involved taking the sunroof out. Looking back this was not a good solution living in Florida in the summer. But for $250 the entire headliner professionally done and looks like new.

I replaced the rod bearings at 195,000 Km (they were in great shape when I removed them btw). Repaired a throttle body actuator. Recently installed the Turner test pipes (cat removal), Turner engine flash/tune. Turner skid plate. White Angel Eyes. aFe stage 2 cold air intake. Opened up the factory muffler box 50k ago. Transmission (DCT) oil is original, but switched to LiquiMoly engine oil about 100,000 Km ago. Diff oil has been changed just recently.

I have driven this car extremely hard since purchase (up to 8000rpm almost daily), and she is still tight. It consumes almost the same amount of oil as it always has (no increase, or so it seems).

Im looking forward to hearing the experiences of other high mileage M3 owners in this thread, and continue a sharing dialogue that will extend our M3 enjoyment.

Really enjoying this thread to see what to expect down the road. I bought my 103k mile 6mt 08 last year, with PO having recently done actuators, starter, thermostat, and wheel bearings.

Since purchasing, I've done rod bearings, motor/trans mounts, spark plugs, and swapped to a low km set of struts w/ swift springs.

I'll be tackling the center support bearing/guibo soon, along with belt/idlers, pulleys, rad hoses, and alternator. Next winter I'd like to do control arms all around, and subframe/diff bushings. Otherwise, looking forward to putting another 100k on her!

Mine is about to turn 120K. Replaced rod bearings, front main seal, and motor mounts when I got it at 72K miles. Also serviced the DCT trans fluid at that time. Since then I've done the TBA's, an alternator, and recently replaced the EDC struts with non-EDC Bilsteins.

Took it up into the mountains yesterday, and hit 100 mph on the uphill without even breathing hard. Magnificent car.

Car has been running great I just took it to a track day and beat on it for 7 20 minute sessions. Hope it lasts a lot longer! Current miles 203,5xx

Other than the rock chips it looks like a brand new car

These cars are rock solid when looked after. I tell all my friends that the only real preventive maintenance that needs to be done are rod bearings. Everything else will give errors before they fail and will not destroy the engine. Even throttle actuators are not really a preventive item anymore, and Rebuild/M Power offer lifetime warranty on them.

Almost 98k on my 2011 E90 ZCP 6MT. Did RBs at 95k miles. TAs were done around 70k. Runs great.

Awesome thread! Have owned a few BMW’s, new to M ownership but long time fan.
1 month ownership. 09 build, 10 registered E92 DCT, Alpine White with black interior purchased with 155k kms on it (Aus delivered car). Bought sight unseen (C19 restrictions) and because there are only 20 or so for sale in the country. Purchased from forum member although I didn’t know this at the time.

Have put just over 1000kms on it so far and falling more and more in love with it. Still walk to the garage just to stare at it. 😀
