New M3/M4 boring?

Am I the only one that is totally unimpressed with the new m3/m4?
Yeah I know its a little lighter, a little faster, more expensive etc
But from the interior, exterior, engine. Doesn't do much for me
Saw them both today at the DC car show
And it's more like a facelift for the E90/E92
Looks very similar, except for the ugly front bumper
Too many lines and holes and no 2 lines match or even go in the same direction
Looked at the engine bay, and the plastic looks very cheap
I don't know why the overall impression I got was this car was made to be cheap
You know reusing the n55, etc
This car was made to have a nice fat profit margin
At the expense of quality.
It certainly did not feel like a $62-64K car

Only thing I liked about it was the sculpted roof, and trunk
Those look nice

I wanted to check out the show but didn't get a chance. However, that's the same impression I got when I saw the renders and then full release.

I still can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually excited and ready to pull the trigger on the Z0-6. The new vette is resetting the bar for how a true sports car should be.

Is it really increased price? Nav and a whole lot more standard now.

Carbon fiber used extensively, great weight savings, tons more power, easily tuned for more power aftermarket, etc, the list goes on. It's going to be a great car.

Sure, you lose V8, but, IMO you gain so much more. More hp, more torque, much faster car. And better gas mileage. No more flirting with 10 mpg all the time. Lol.

I am still in the fence but I am not a fan of the engine. I have gone the turbo route and at some point the car will shut down when driven very hard, which is the main reason I came back to the e92. Plus the V8 just shook the inside of Yates car wash when they started it up!!

I remember when I saw the e9x at first,...! Let's just say, over time, it grew on me.

Carston Pries of BMW M said the engine is an animal with shocking capabilities. http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...939406&page=12

I'm sure he's right.

I pretty much agree with this. I had been hoping for something closer to 500hp (and no, I don't care about the M5 or the marketing issues with offering a 500hp M4). It's a marginal upgrade, at best -- our M3 is already a phenomenal driving machine, so I would expect nothing less (but also, probably nothing MORE) with the M4. To me, the kicker is that they will most likely charge MORE for the M4 than the M3. You can tell me all about how it has more CF, etc... irrelevant. Competition is competition and when you're charging $85k (as some have suggested) -- all you're doing is pushing guys like me away, who are going to comparison shop you at any price.

I can have that Z06 and 620hp for $85k most likely, so I say: good luck with the M4 BMW, you'll need it.

I will however, reserve final judgement until all the specs/pricing are revealed for both.

Aesthetically, I personally don't think that it's a big enough departure from the e9x styling. Can't comment on the motor yet but from my experience with BMW turbo motors, I'll like it but not love it.

But realistically, I'll probably end up buying one to fit in and show off to hot college babes.

I would love to see when Ginitani will release the Twin Turbo for the E92 M. But I'm sure only GOD can afford it.

I don't like the m4 either. The interior looks odd to me, the engine bay looks small and cheap and the exhaust sounds terrible. The competition is too good and m is selling out and sticking m badges on everything nowadays and I'm so happy I chose to get a e92.

Why? I guess you're in the minority that doesn't want to mod their car.

Sure, sat there watching them while reading the paper and drinking coffee. Took my GTR there as well.

i truly find it hard to believe people post on here about tuning of the m4. while they have zero clue what they are talking about.

the new M cars are not very tune friendly. you think the m4 is going to be any different than the f10 m5s?
