Warranty Question

Hey guys, I encountered a strange warranty issue with my X5. It has 40k miles and is still under the extended warranty and maintenance plan. The thrust rod bushings went out on it and my dealer (the car is in FLA right now) said it wasn't covered and wants around $1,000 to fix it. I can't believe that a wear and tear item isn't covered under the maintenance plan...any thoughts?

I don't know all the fine print on the maintenance plan but just take it to another dealer and see what happens. You can also try contacting BMW NA.

no, not covered under extended maintenance.

extended maintenance covers scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, filters, fluids, inspections, etc.

doubt it would be covered under extended warranty as well since its a wear/tear item.

Read the fine print on what is covered and what is not.

Your 6/100k maintenance extension only covers basic maintenance serivces. Oil changes, brake flush, wipers, belts, pads/rotors.

Suspension components are not covered under that plan, or Certified Pre-Owned.

Depends what kind of extended warranty. BMW CPO will not cover them, as well as most other tiered plans they just introduced.

A 3rd party warranty might depending on the coverage level, eg Maxcare from Carmax.
