It's really very simple. The frustrating part was identifying which wires I needed to tap into which you won't have to worry about.

Very interesting piece of equipment. I wonder if would help transition one from 6MT to a sequential shifter(a different beast) which I noticed in a friend's cup car blipped the throttle for you which definitely felt weird and totally new to me. Sounds like this might help some people.

Okay, I'm resurrecting this thread from the dead in the hopes that the OP sees it....

So would this work on where you would normally heel and toe while braking as well as just pushing in the clutch to drop to a lower gear for passing. I guess I'm asking if this activates as you're going into a lower gear or merely at pressing the brake/clutch?

The brake pedal MUST be depressed in order to trigger a blip with the clutch. If you are downshifting while not braking you have a free foot to rev match manually.

Thanks! Where did you end up mounting your device? I don't want mine out in the open so I'm thinking about mounting it in the center console bin.

I just finished the installation on my 2001 330I Spec E46 car and it was the same EXCEPT the throttle wires are white and white/green. They were still pins 4 and 6.

To clarify, the brake must be active FIRST. Chris

Interesting piece! It's not for me, but I certainly appreciate the tinkering and thought.

Reminds me of the blast I got from folks when I designed an electronic ignition for my old '71 Honda CB twin. It's not a matter of should, but could.

I am getting DIY ideas...

OP, thanks for the write up!

I can see building an arduino-based device that would do this, and possibly adding input from additional sensors in order to do a more intelligent rev-matching

Rev Matching is a modern feature that our (manual) e9x M3's lack. This upgrade begs for a product for forum members to install or program easily. It could be especially helpful for track duty. Thanks for sharing.

I like it, this seems quite awesome. Anybody know of any stores in California that carry the part or perform install on this thing? Sometimes I just dont feel like rev-matching myself..

Interesting for sure. I'll be the first to admit my heel/toe needs work. plain rev matching on decel is easy, but for me, balancing it all before going into a turn, is where I have trouble. I'm usually a bit late w/ it causing too much movement as I'm into the turn.

Resurrecting this topic. I contacted the Auto Blip manufacturer and they said that BMW changed pedal electronics "sometime around 2008" and will not function on model years after 2008, but they weren't certain on that. Has anyone installed this on any later model years with success?

So very true.

The whole point to owning a 6MT is the driver has to learn to drive it.

Personally, I will never buy a car with a MT that matches revs for me.

I have to say rev matching with the new clutch stop is amazing,i will admit it took some serious timing without it,i would def try the clutch stop first,to be fair i never would guess a 15$ part would make such a difference, but i wouldnt get the blip feature either i would have to figure it out

A few things:

I installed the auto blip in my 2008 e92 M3 this weekend. This writeup made it much easier than it would have been. Thank you Bushum and thank you Andres for a great product.
My cars build date is March of 2008.

One additional: My throttle wires were a little different. The number 4 pin was white. The number 6 was white with a yellow stripe.

I can't get mine to function properly. I have an 04 M3. It is installed exactly as presented at the beginning of the thread.

If it is off, the car is happy. When I turn it own, it lights three of the four lights, the DSC drops dead, and multiple codes related to brake pedal position. If I clear all the codes with the module turned off, everything is fine again. But, when I turn it one, things go sideways again.

Suggestion will be appreciated.

I just helped a buddy install this on his 2013, and we can't get the throttle to blip at all. It's reading the signal from both brake and clutch flawlessly but with every calibration the blip led flashes (indicating an issue & a failed calibration). There most likely is truth to what you said regarding a change in pedal electronics, but a work around is probably out there. I'll update this thread if I can find a solution.

If anyone else has this installed on a year model 2009 or later without issue, please feel free to chime in as to what resolved your throttle issue.
