Bought a Second hand E92 M3 engine issues
Hi guys I don’t know if anyone can help I bought a second hand e92 m3 and it has been leaking oil recently so took it to my mechanic and apparently the previous owner welded the engine and transmission to stop the oil leak so my question is will my mechanic want to replace the engine and transmission or how does he fix that without welding ? And how much will it cost ?
Also if I don’t repair the leak will it make things worse ? Or if I keep topping it up will it be fine ? |

I don’t see any evidence of welding in the photos you posted. Ask your mechanic how he intends to move forward with repairs and for an estimated cost. The leak may get worse. Monitor the engine oil level via the digital guage and top off accordingly. These cars typically develop oil leaks from the oil filter housing gasket as well as the valve covers. Yours is in the vacinity of the oil filter housing.
