Considering a 2008 M3
Hi all,
I’m considering purchasing a 2008 M3 with 50,000 miles from Canada to import into the US. Here are the details: Color: Alpine White exterior, Tan interior Transmission: 6-speed manual, Single Hump Modifications: Axle-back exhaust, aftermarket "Comp" look wheels Exterior: Good overall, but with some peeling on the front bumper and cracking in the windshield trim. Interior: In good shape, with typical driver's seat bolster wear. Mechanical: The only issue I’ve noticed is the known 2008 flywheel noise. The car seems solid overall. I don't anticipate issues importing it, except for the aftermarket exhaust. According to EPA form 35020-1, the vehicle must be "unmodified". I’m debating sourcing an OEM exhaust, swapping it in Canada, and then driving the car to the border. Does anyone in New England have an OEM exhaust for sale, or can anyone offer advice on this? Additionally this car was originally sold in the US. The VIN is WBSWD93548PY41339. If it’s an old forum members car please share any details. With the purchase price at $29,000 USD, what are your thoughts on this deal? Is this a good value, or should I look elsewhere? Thanks for any feedback! |

The exhaust part would probably be the X pipe, not cat back. X pipe contains a pair of primary cats that are connected to O2 sensors, a pair of secondary cats not connected to any sensors and a pair of resonators at the end. It's the primary cats that people cutoff for power and it will trigger a cel without tune and will fail emissions
50k miles on a 2008, not a bad pickup Last edited by Reddevils7; 01-13-2025 at 11:16 AM.. |
