Did you double check the connector numbers. There are two on the module and the wiring colors and pin locations are different on the two as you may assume. I almost missed that in the instructions the first time I skimmed through them. PM me if you need the instructions. I can take pics of them and send them to you if needed.

PIN2 from Module >> PIN15 on EDC connector
PIN10 from Module >> PIN14 on EDC connector PIN3 from Module >> Red wire removed from EDC connector (BMW harness) PIN11 from Module >> Blue/Red Wire removed from EDC connector (BMW harness) Power/Ground can be obtained from the white connector: PIN1 = +12V Power PIN6 = Ground Quote:
So is Pin 2 macht >> Pin 14 BMW or to Pin 15 BMW ? |

Tom - Is this thread pretty outdated or the information incorrect? I recently obtained a Macht Schnell EDC Emulator but it did not come with instructions. I want to make sure I am working with the latest correct information, thanks!

For clarity, i'm using the terms harness and connector interchangeably for the cable connector ends that will plug into the BMW EDC module.
I've reattached the edited images and confirmed all my pin outs to avoid hosing anyone. I just did this... I almost broke the connector underneath the blue jacket due to being a knucklehead... so I would recommend lots of light, lots of care and a magnifying glass if needed (I used jewelers glasses to repair my harness damage) to slide out the pins from the connector - take your time, its not hard. Im just trying to save fellow BMW owners some heartburn. I have a 2008 BMW M6 E63 coupe, your mileage may vary. Six cables with this EDC emulator. Two cables for powering the unit and two cables that will go to the car end once you cut the red and blue/red wires and the other two cables from the emulator that you will reinsert to the black harness with the blue jacket once you remove PINS14 and 15. My unit was located in the passenger kick panel front, remove the side cover (two pins holding it in place and pull the threshold strip slightly, just the furthest pin towards the front of the vehicle needs to be removed carefully (no need to remove the whole thing). Pry the carpet back and you will have access to the unit. We only need the white plug for powering the MS EDC emulator and the Black plug with the blue jacket is the one we will remove PINS15, 14 and plug in PINS 2 and 10 from the MS EDC emulator. The power leads from the white plug going to the EDC module can be tapped into to power the emulator, the supplied yellow taps are too small and you will at least need blue ones for a higher gauge. Orange and yellow are power (PIN1) and Brown is ground (PIN6). Don't use the thicker gauge black and red/blue wires there, those aren't the ones you need. Once you remove the pins from the black connector with the blue jacket or splice into them you can insert or splice in PIN2 from the MS EDC emulator to PIN15 in the connector and PIN10 with PIN14 in the connector. If you dont feel confident removing the pin and reinserting the one from the MS EDC emulator just splice it before the harness. The wires that are now unplugged that were going to the EDC module harness need to be plugged into the MS EDC emulator PINS3 (hooked up to red wire, was plugged in to PIN15) and 11 (hooked up to blue/red wire, was plugged into PIN14). If you've correctly hooked this up you will get a steady green flash from the unit, you can check control and confirm the fault is gone. If you don't get a light, your unit isn't getting power. Confirm power with a volt meter to pin1 and 6 on the white harness going to the EDC module with car ACC on and make sure your wire taps are making solid contact. i was confused on the power and ground cables since my color for 08 m3 e92 were different from what macht schnell provided in their instructions. tom from eas helped me and got it clarified.
wire colors are different. Power wire is PIN9 (Red/Green stripe), while PIN1 is Ground (Brown). for my particular car. it worked! so thankful for the prompt response and help. happy thanksgiving everyone |
