I have an E36 that almost makes E9x M3 power and it's all motor, 8300rpm. It's quite the track day beast. It's also my daily driver so keeping up with classed race cars always gets me positive attention in the paddock.

A Vette is light for what it is but I'd say 'tossable' certainly doesn't suit the description of driving one on the track. Have you ever added up how much 4 325-345 race tires are. Imagine buying those three times a season

A Caterham is one of my favorites, i'd certainly look into kits as they can be safely built, raced and driven on the street if need be.
Figure out what you want, other than something that is tossable. That fits the description of to many awesome trackable machines. Cheap reliable speed? E36 M3. Outrageous fun? Caterham. Tossable exotic street car? Cayman S on really good suspension
