Can anyone explain to me BMW service ABROAD?

So I just picked up my car from the dealer, they stamped the book and everything and did all of the services on it with exception of the microfilter because they did not have it in stock.... I scheduled my appointment 2 weeks early and they needed 2 days to do the car.

I got it back and am happy to have it back. BMW Jerez Spain charged me 558 Euro for the 1200mile oil change. Now is this something that I have to eat since I am in Spain with an US Spec car? Or can I do something about it?

I thought when you bought a BMW, service was free of charge from BMW.
Does anyone have an explanation that would either help ease a little bit of my pain, or take it away all together?

Other facts are as follows: I am Military, I bought my car from Pentagon car sales in Rota.

EDIT: Sorry mods I posted in there to try for maximum exposure of this. I am out a little bit more than I was expecting to spend.

I read somewhere that it is reimbursed by BMWNA, just keep the receipts and give them a call.

I don't know if military sales are handled differently, particularly if you are going to be stationed in europe longer than the usual (less than 6 months) Euro delivery. I had euro delivery of my M3 and was told that if I had took my car for service in europe to an authorized BMW dealer I could submit the bill for "courtesy" BMW reimbursement, i.e. they have the option to pay or not, but generally would pay for the service. I was never able to book any service so I didn't get to see if this would work. Like others have said, save your receipts and when you get back to the US send them to BMW (there is a special form that BMW NA has for this).

Tough Luck

As mentioned in the FAQ section of the Pentagon Car Sales website the Full Maintenance Program is valid only in the US shown here....Got 2 while in Germany and had to pay as well....

10.Will the BMW Full Maintenance Program cover my BMW?
This particular program applies only in the USA (48-month/50,000-mile) and does not cover the servicing of US models outside the USA. However, the program would be available once your BMW is in the USA (providing it still falls within the stated mileage/in-service parameters).
