ngk *lkr9bhx-s/NGK 90465 ?
Anyone ever tried these spark plugs?*https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NGO90465
New NGK Ruthenium HX made for m3 and m5. NgK states they are better than platinum. I am curious if anyone knows anything about them or has had any experience using them? I am getting ready to change plugs with OEM but noticed these on NGKs website and was curious. Thank you! |

I am curious about the ruthenium vs the standard ngk application for these motors since the knock sensor was tuned for the standard plugs.

Matches as a replacment on NGK.com, I personally am using the NGK 4471 LKR8AP. I'd use those without any worry too.

I just called NGK direct customer service and was on hold for 20 minutes waiting for a "product specialist" and asked him what the difference is between the Ruthenium plug and the OEM laser platinum they also make. He said they just came out with the Ruthenium in November 2018 and apparently they are the "latest and greatest" of the NGK family of plugs. He also said Ruthenium is less expensive to mine than platinum and iridium but is a more durable metal so I should get more longevity than out of the laser platinum. He said that the OE laser platinum is an awesome plug but recommended to give these new Rutheniums a shot because NGK rates them as better apparently. He said all the specs, gap, threads, size are the same as OE but the Ruthenium should provide better performance.
Well I am going to give them a shot. I will let you guys know what I find. I hope they add 1000 horsepower hahaha! Or maybe they will blow my motor! Or maybe they will do nothing at all! (Most likely the case) lol i am excited. Getting the plugs changed here on April 2. A tuesday not a monday so that the dealer service tech is awake and aware and doesnt forget a wrench in my engine or something. Lol |

How could you “find” anything? I mean how can you tell difference over the typical improvement going from old plugs to new plugs. You’d have to go from new OE plugs to these to tell if there may be any difference

That would be an interesting youtube video. Change with new plugs oem and dyno and then change with the ruthenium and dyno again. And then go have a beer.

Ask what the conductivity of the Ruthenium is. That should be a strong indicator of the performance.

Iridium lasts longer than platinum. You're not going to notice any difference in performance -- the service interval will just be longer.

not sure if anyone noticed, but these Ruthenium spark plugs also only have 1 ground electrode whereas the OEM plugs have 2 |

Got the verdict... do not buy hese plugs or proceed with caution. Had my dealer replace all 8 plugs with the NGK ruthenium and the engine developed misfires in every cylinder. They put oem plugs in after that and misfires went away.

So...you introduce these new plugs to us. THEN you tell us we shouldn’t use them? Don’t you realize that makes me want them more!
