badass, i didn't do too much to the wrx power wise.. just a turboback exhaust+tune. i did have coilovers/front and rear sway bars/endlinks/steering column bushings/yadda/yadda/yadda... the thing felt like a go-kart

Whatever you do, don't buy a BOV and an intake. Neither do any good for the subaru motors unless you're above, say, 400whp. I just sold my suby (actually, saab 9-2x, which if you dont know has the wrx chassis and ej20 motor) and got my 330i. I semi miss it (esp awd), but bimmers are definitely better built.

Pick up a used STi turbo and TMIC, upgrade injectors, and exhaust + tune and he'll run 12s all day. If he wants to go faster than that tell him to buy an STi.

I'd recommend the 2.5L wrx/sti for more of a daily driver. Can do the same power (although the stock turbo needs an upgrade sooner than for the evo), but has a little more torque down low so you don't feel lag as much. I think that if I had gotten an STI (or LGT), I wouldn't have gotten the 335 today. Mostly because the STI has less lag and more [low rpm] torque. When I went for the 335, I did't just go comfort. I wanted to get away from all the lag and lack of low rpm torque that the evo had (and the noise, loud car inside. It will wear you out after a while, unless you really love noise.). -scheherazade |
