PATRIOT Roll Call...who's aboard?
I previously thought I was on the Caribbean Highway, but I just checked and found out that my car is being shipped to the US via the M/S Patriot (call sign WQVY). You can check to see if your car is on this ship as well, by clicking on the following link, going to customer centre, then cargo tracking, and then clicking on "Auto cargo."
http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp If you are on the Patriot, you can track the vessel's progress at the following link by searching by vessel (Patriot) or by the voyage number (EB838-PAT): http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/ The red highlighted ports are stops that the ship has already made. Right now, the ship is en route from Antwerp to Zeebrugge. From there, she's on to Southampton, New York, Baltimore, and finally arrives in Charleston on October 4. The following is a link to a description of the ship, which used to be called the Fidelio: http://www.wilhelmsen.com/services/s...MVPatriot.aspx Attached are some pics of the ship. I'm also on PATRIOT, however it shows a schedule arrival in Charleston on 4 Oct and my PCD pickup date is 23 Oct. Guess they don't allow much contingency time for any issues

Good Progress? It looks like it is moving slow as a snail? Yeah I know, large ship, lots of weight, etc. But I've done the Atlantic transit faster on a U.S. Navy ship [just kidding, just getting anxious]
TLud: Thank you for the daily posts

Yeah, it does seem a bit slow, but the seas are glassy (0.5 to 1 foot waves) and the wind is at her back, so I guess it could be worse. She seems slightly ahead of schedule.

Recall what happened to the initial M3 shipment to the U.S. when it ran into a storm; was it ~400 damaged cars? How can one tell if the VPC has repaired physical damage to a car? Does the dealer's Vehicle Inquiry report show that kind of status?

In theory, the VPC is supposed to disclose damage/repairs over a certain percentage to your dealer and your dealer is supposed to give you a choice as to whether or not to buy the car, but I'm not sure how it really works in reality. If the car sits at the VPC for awhile, that might give it away. |
