Like he said, for a clean shave you're never gonna beat a razor. But I'm often lazy so to shorten/even out stubble I bought this from target, works great and collects the hair for you so it's not all over your sink/face when you're done

my problem is that i wait until my facial hair is too long and its hard to shave. i figured an electric one would save me the frustration

When you have too much hair and its uncomfortable to shave you need a beard trimmer to get it shorter prior to shaving. You can than use a regular electric razor meant for shaving. But you cant really get a good shave having long hair with just an electric razor. I suggest wet shaving. Start out with a merkur HD or something like that. They're cheap and DE blades are pennies. You can use a new fresh sharp blade every time.

if i have electric i wont have the problem where i let it go too long because it will be easier and more convenient to shave.

I thought everyone knew by now, PHILIPS is the king of the electric razor.

Regarding electric/manual, I used to use manual razor allday everyday.
Over the past 2-3 months I've been using waterproof phillips electric shaver and honestly,
once you adapt, you probably won't go back to razors as a daily thing (maybe still for the one off super clean shaves)

The main thing I noticed with a reasonable length beard is a good electric has way less pull/pain associated with the pulling than a manual razor.
Just feels like a more comfortable and pain free shave than regular razor, and you can get it pretty close too so no biggy

really.. i have been reading reviews and i cant find one that someone does NOT talk about pulling.

i used an older shaver last night, and my face still burns like a mother fucker. i guess they take some time to get used to.

Braun has the best electric shavers.

I've got a Remington Titanium MS280. I use it daily and have had no problems whatsoever. I've used electric shavers exclusively for the last 12 years. This is the cheapest shaver I've had (less than $40 3 years ago) and it's still working great. The battery lasts around 2 weeks on a charge, it has attached clippers to trim sideburns or cut a longer beard before shaving, and replacement blades are around $17. I typically replace them twice a year and have no issues with burning or pulling.

I use a Panasonic ES8077S which I've had for almost 3 years, never even replaced the blades yet and it still gets a super close shave every time.

Sounds like your problems stem from using crappy razors.

A good razor has NO pull. No resistance. No razor burn. No razor bumps.

I've always used an electric. My skin is very sensitive and never responded well to shaving with just a regular razor. But, for a while now I shave with my electric and follow up with a razor.

I've used a Braun for the last 5 years. It works well, but the motor is getting weak, so I'm looking for a new one. I also think Braun's are a little overrated.

From the research I've done Panasonic appears to be the best out there. However the best user rated response I've found on amazon.com said the perfect razor would be panasonic's motor with remington's blades.

I'm still undecided, but leaning to trying the Remington first. After a few tries if I don't like it I'll return it and get the Panasonic.

I've been a long time user of the Braun self cleaning shavers. I had the 8800 series shaver that lasted me over 5 years. YOu just need to replace the blades every year and it worked like a charm. I believe back then it was about $200.

I figure it was time for an upgrade and I noticed Braun came out with the newer line up...3 series, 5 series, 7 series. The only one that was comparable to my old 8800 series shaver was the 7 series. It's pricey (200+) but worked a lot better than the 5 series.

I never tried the panasonic ones but I know for sure that the Braun 7 series will be tough to beat. In my past experience the rotary shavers didn't cut as close as the standard electric shavers.

However, I agree that razor gives the closest shave but I'm always on the run so electric shaver fits my lifestyle

I came back to razors from a shaver. As for body grooming, the wahl lithium powered mini trimmer is hands down the best.

I believe since Bruan was purchased by P&G their shavers are designed in Germany but made in China.

has anyone purchased that tiny "as seen on tv" electric shaver that is waterproof? It goes for about $20 at stores and I'm thinking of picking one up for travel purposes but I read some bad reviews on it online.
