Transmission Error when re-starting

Recently I have had the yellow trans malf. light come on when I re-start the car and it's not possible to select any gear. If I wait, say, 5 mins everything is fine again!

Embarassing at the gas station today though, engine running, Akra pipes blaring, but can't get it into gear. Few minutes later no drama.....I'm off again.

It only does it after the car has been stopped for a short period of time and only occasionally.

So far in the last 6 months i think it has happened 3 times.

Never get any error message when driving. Very odd and irritating.

Anybody seen this before?

Have any maintenance performed lately? I had the same issue for a month after i changed rod bearings, turned out to be the grounding strap from the trans was loose, guess i didnt tighten it all the way. Anyway, wrenched it down and no more problems.

Nothing recently just a routine oil change. I better head for the dealer...

How many miles on the car? Any signs of fluid on the bottom heat shields by the trans?

Well oddly enough it turned out to be a battery problem, it wasn't kicking out enough to power all the electrics quickly enough on start up.

New battery - no drama.

That's 7.5 years on the OEM battery which is a damn good life IMO.
