Is this a Clutch Delay Valve in my 2008 manual M3?
I was bleeding my clutch fluid and after doing the job, looking at the realoem to find the bleeder to buy it in case I need some day, I found out that there shouldn't be that little part between fluid hose and fluid solid tube.
I'm attaching pictures that shows what I mean. As you can see, it exists on realoem diagram, but the number is translucent, like it's cancelled, and doesn't show on the list, but it does exist in my car. At ECS site, it exists, and seems to fit my car. I thought it didn't exist on M cars, but if it does, I'll take it off right away. By the way, I didn't find the bleeder part number, so I think that if it brokes, one needs to replace all the slave cylinder. |

That does look like a clutch delay valve, but the only time I've ever heard them discussed, it's about removing them. I believe if you remove the CDV, the fitting on the flexible hose will plug right into the fitting on the hard line. If not, you can put it back in!
With respect to the bleeder, you can get those at any parts store. Just take the old one with you to match up. |

Well after owning other manual BMWs (E46, E85M) with CDV, and having them removed, I can tell you that the M3 does not feel at all like it has a CDV!

It is my understanding that M cars do not have a clutch delay valve (the valve piece is there, but they are gutted).
Only the non-M cars came with actual restrictors inside, which you can just drill out and put right back on. |
