There was one Evolve S/C that drove by the stadium twice today on the way to and from my friend's house to work on the car during this "warm" weather. I thought there would be more to see other than a HUGE "XLVIII" and a bunch of tents and satellite dishes.

It is funny that at 42 degrees I was working outside in a sweatshirt and was warm. If this was June and 42 degrees I would have had a jacket and hat and still complained about the cold.

Lol, after the single diget and teen weather we've had; 42 degrees feel like a comfortable spring day.

What's lacking in our car is low-rpm torque for city driving and if this kit outshines the others it might be worth a price premium in my book. (• Superior low end torque compared to other centrifugal superchargers)

I think "a little" is the right description. The downside is that, at least thus far, none of these blowers have had the top end of the Vortech. Their small impellers are less efficient at high flow volumes and their complex gear drive system does not allow them to reliably be spun any faster.

So thus far, it has been a compromise between a little better midrange with flattening out on top or a little less midrange and no loss of flow up top. ESS used to use the ASA, but changed to the Vortech. ESS has previously stated their testing did not show any dramatic differences in power curves or reliability, but that it was simpler for ESS to use one blower in all of its kits and only the Vortech had the flow range for that broad use.
...

Saw this posted elsewhere, I think this elaborates on some of those questions

CFM of Rotrex is just a tad lower than Vortech - and some people think this is concrete evidence of a Vortech superiority. Well, I beg to differ.

Ive offered anyone and everyone the opportunity to drive my car. To experience what I mean by TQ down low and super smooth, repeatable, consistent power.

Thank to member PencilGeek and his love of capturing data, we have a chance to visualize the difference. The car I used from his database was just recently run on EAS DJ dyno.

Dyno Below shows my car: Evolve E600, 93 octane, 6.7 PSI, and a competing kit rated at 625CHP, 100 octane, 7.x PSI. Both DCT and catless

First graph is just TQ. 3 runs of each car.

1. TQ, plain to see how fast the rotrex ramps up and the real world advantage. Had my car been WOT as early (2k rpms) the disparity would be even larger

2. 3k to 4.5k rpms rotrex is destroying the vortech kit - meaning you feel it on the road when you drive

3. They stay even until about 5600rpms where again, the rotrex has nice flat curve - although this could be directly linked to tuning variance - another thing ive been saying it light years ahead (but not the point of this thread)

4. vortech comes back to life around 7k rpms, as it should, remember, its pushing a bit more psi, has a slightly better CFM, and is on racefuel

5. Peak numbers are about equal, odd considering #4.

6. What I want to also stress, is the difference in consistency. rotrex has as little deviation from 3 back-back runs as you could possibly hope for. Vortech kit is all over the place - #37 performance is scarily underwhelming and choppy, #38 is a bit better, still choppy, but more power, #39 is the best pull, but still has a few "flat" spots in the powerband

I hope this sheds a bit of light for the armchair racers out there, the ones who only go by what they have been told, and not what they have experienced.

FWIW, im not attacking any other kit, the vortech is super fun, for what it is, I had one. I thought the power was awesome... from 7k rpms and up.. a multitude of reasons left me wanting something different though.

Just to kill curiosity, if I thought the vortech based kit was fun ( im sure you remember all my videos and comparo runs i did with it..) just imagine how much fun im having with the new setup

I drove LM's car when he had his ESS kit and Evolve... although the ess kit was a lesser power kit so the power isn't apples to apples. The tq he talks about is there and the smoothness of the tune/kit was what sold me. I am coming from a FBO cobb Stg 2 335 so I wanted to have that punch while driving around town but also have the high RPM power the m3 gives us from 6.5 k and beyond. I'm excited to get the Evolve kit on my own car and log some miles to really get a feel for it. For the short time i drove LM's car, it was absolutely perfect, exactly how I want my M3 to perform.

I also witnessed his car run at the DOR 1 & 2 events (plenty of vids on youtube). The car absolutely rips and the tq is obvious during roll racing at higher speeds vs other SC'd m3's with comparable kits/power. He was having traction problems at DOR 2 but was still right there with a ESS 650 car on multiple runs.

The way the rotrex blower matches up to the OEM power band / gearing is perfect IMO. The car has plenty of power down low as well as up in the higher rpm band (like stock). It should be interesting to hear more opinions as some more Evolve kits get installed and start running this spring/summer.

What are the 1/4 mile times with this kit? Anyone actually run their car from a dig?

I am excited to see who the Evolve kit does with my 6MT. The majority of the Evolve SC owners are DCT, so will be nice to see how the car handles the new found power.. ROTREX PLEASE HURRY UP!!

I don't know of any 1/4 mile times currently. Below are some vids of the races I saw in person. I went to both DOR events last year and it was a blast, there was a ess car, evolve, AA and a bunch of other cars. I loved the ess e90 m3, its a great looking car! At DOR 2 there was a ess 625 (i think) e92 coupe that made a quick 1/4 pass, high 10 from what i remember but i can't find the video. Going out and seeing these cars run will show you just how close they all are. To me, the way the car drives/feels makes the difference..

Yea I've seen that video before, but I was more curious to see what actual 1/4mile times are. All the other kits have been tested and a couple hold the world record within 1/10 of a second from eachother (around 10.6 I believe). Again...numbers talk. I'm sure alllllllllllll the kits perform SUPERBLY and they are great kits in their own respect. This evolve kit is the most beautiful of them all, I just wanna see what number it puts down.

The Evolve car hasnt had a clean pass, but this is a good comparison between the 2. Silver E92 on MT ET Street Drag Radials, Evolve on NT05 street tires
