I'm at sacramento for school. and you are overestimating the tC! They're releasing an 08 model that comes riced for you! (cheap lips, side skirts) It's a lot worse than you think it is. the body roll, the acceleration, the ugliness and rarity of it all! I just don't want to be seen in it

So I guess to summarize this thread. Some 18 year olds may deserve the cars (mainly bimmes) that they get, but I'd say a good number of them are just spoiled little punks who get really cocky and straight into a tree or something. Those are the real culprits to the scum of our society! For the most part, the young ones on this board who post regularly seem to be paying off their own debt in their cars somehow and that is perfectly reasonable. No reason to be complaining now unless it's about the kids who smash into trees cause they push the DTC button and then say "WATCH THIS"

hahahahaha, very true. - i think i'm going to have to call

i am 19, turning 20 in april. right now i own a slightly modded 350z that i pay for and an X5 that my uncle left me when he passed away because he had no kids.
i have no intentions of buying a 335 because i am waiting for the ///M3 to come out.
it seems people always complain about young kids driving.
i don't see what the big deal is? so what if the kid has something nice?
i have to work a lot to afford my vechicles, but i have no problem with people who are given cars by their parents. it is the parent's responsibility. hopefully i will be able to provide for my child in the same way one day.

I'm 25 and I'm laughing.

It's all in how you present yourself. If you come off as an a-hole or appear to be one in the way your drive or look, you won't get respect. My high school graduation present was a truck, lowered wheels, stereo, and so on. It was the nicest vehicle in the lot at school. Yea there were a few Jags, cheap Benz's and clean but stock sports cars. But everyone knew me and my truck. Keep in mind my school had nearly 4,000 kids.

But no one messed with my car or me because they knew I wasn't the type of person to brag about what I had or make a scene. I was taught the value of a dollar and hard work. Being an only child often lends itself to being "spoiled". Seeing my dad run his own business and work 90+ hours a week you learn a lot as a young kid. Even if it's looking from the outside in.

Bottom line, you get respect when you show respect. It doesn't matter if your 18 or 80. You act a fool, you look like a fool.

the problem is, that the mind of a 16-18 year old is scientifically proven to be different from the mind of an adult, specifically in the way you make decisions. basically the mind of a 16-18 year old is the same thing as the mind of a child, which is why high schoolers are so retarded. after they become adults, age 20 or 21 i believe, some node develops in their brain that makes them infinitely more mature.

of course there are some 18 year olds that are exceptionally mature. but go walk through your average high school and all you'll see is literally a bunch of children who BELIEVE they are mature enough to be adults, although their actions usually speak differently.

my favorite is watching these talk shows with 17 year old girls who have children already, and who say "i was ready to do this, i loved my boyfriend, were going to get married, hes gonna support us" LOL. that's the first hand result of shitty parenting.

This was the post I was looking for. Very nice response and a positive attitude will get you great karma.

I'm 20, almost 21. I've been fortunate enough to work part time as a contractor in the IT business here in CA, while attending school full time, and I bought my own 2006 325i last summer (almost payed off! ). A lot of people always scoul at me saying mommy and daddy bought me it. I don't try to to retaliate and get in their face about being so great that I bought it myself and they can go suck it, or whatever. I think good positive attitudes will get you further in life. Although, it's really hard not to want to rub things in people's faces sometimes.

I've saved up a bit more and hopefully I'll have enough so that when I trade in my 2006 325i I can buy myself a 335i this summer to keep for 3-4 years. The reason I'm selling my 325i is because I found the deal of a lifetime and the dealership knocked off ~$7000. It was 3 weeks used, the lady turned it back in because she wanted the SUV instead (rich folk ), it only had 900 miles on it and almost fully loaded with premium, sports pack, etc! The dealership I bought it from said they'll give me what I payed for it $33,900 if I trade it in for 335i which they'll give me for $1000 above MSRP. Sounds like a great deal, but my friend's dad buys a lot of BMWs from his friend who owns a dealership, I'll see if I can get a better deal there.

I digress. I'm a little rambunctious on the road, though I myself wag my finger at the other crazy guys driving around the road and endangering people). Boys will be boys (as I'm told), sometimes some people are a lost cause and sometimes people just need to figure things out in life for themselves. Listening to your elders is a great way not to repeat the past and a penny saved is a penny earned!

BMW 4 Life.

I wasn't trying to attack the fella, just making a point.

It doesn't matter what he or you did to get your car, its what you do with it and people see you doing with it that matters. If you buy it but then act like an ass, no one will care if you bought it or got it given to you, because you are still an ass.

You only have one chance to make a first impression. Make of it what you will.

I think the worst thing I get out of this entire thread is the seemingly large number of "college students" who cannot string two coherent sentences together. It is hard to believe that these people have graduated High School, yet alone be enrolled in college. I worry about this countries future.

As to the expensive cars for rich kids... so what, as long as they stay out of my face I don't care one way or another. My children however will have to buy their own car as I don't believe they will respect it unless they know how much work goes into acquiring it.

I ain't sure if I had missed this thread or not. Anyway,
our kids drive either a Ferrari or a double deck bus here.
My teenage daily commute was a 200cc Honda motocycle, my richer friend drove a Fiat 126, his elder brother drove a BMW 2002.

unlike most of my friends (and people in my high school in general) i graduated, went to college for 2 years, got a co-op job on my last term, graduated, got a full time job at my co-op placement, 1 year later promotion and raise and i'm coming on another raise soon.

i was brought up the same way by my parents. they came to canada with $100 and lived with my uncle and worked on a farm until they had enough money to move out. now, my mom drives a dodge durango, my dad has a altima 3.5se, and they go on trips every year. they showed me how hard you have to work to get something you want or need. i got my e30 and i'm so grateful for it. i take care of it and try to keep in great condition cause i worked hard for it and i don't want turning into a pile of crap like most people's cars who they don't care for.....
i'm 21 right now and planning on putting a order for a e92 at the end of this year......you can't hate all young people. just like i can't hate all asian's because so many of them have almost run me off the road.

end rant.
