After owning a 12' E92 ZCP M3 for almost half a year now, i have truly fallen in love with the car and driving experience. I think M2 Comp is headed in the right direction for the car its "supposed" to be but its going to be hard for me to say i get the same kind of feeling when I drive the M3.
After emissions went crazy and a lot of car manufactures slapped turbos on almost all high power N/A cars, i had been disappointed where the industry was headed on economical vs. pure fun. There will always be a balancing act there but my hope is that the M2 comp lives up to the "Fun Factor" that the M3 ZCP already has. I will say though, its going to be hard to beat that screaming S65 V8 |

Just test drove a manual M2c. I ended up liking it more than I expected. Manual transmission seemed good, I actually liked the sound and it's loudness in stock form vs my m3 where I had to add testpipes for any exhaust sound. Handling was very sharp, it felt a bit more sporty and planted in terms of handling compared to the e92. Only real issue was that the steering was a bit numb.
Considering that my warranty is almost up, and rod bearing replacement issues, I'm most likely going to trade in the e92 to the m2c.

We actually bought the M2C with the plan of flipping it right away if it wasn't a decently done car. Neither of us have cared for post-E9x era BMWs, so we assumed the M2C might likely be disappointing...so far it's been anything but that. We plan to keep it a good while.

I've had a 2011 E90 M3 6MT since October 2011, Harrop Supercharged since November 2014.
I've just picked up my M2C 6MT and I really adore it. The clutch and shifter movements are much cleaner and better than the M3 with the Autosolutions shifter. The brakes are superb. Everything feels tighter, there's less creaks and funny noises here and there. Of course my E90 is heavily modified so it's somewhat of an unfair comparison, but a new car is a new car. There's just more creature comfort, the iDrive has improved significantly, and the electronic steering isn't so bad.

I really dig the M2 comp. It's about perfect for a new BMW M car, no doubt in my mind. I drove a regular M2 and M3 on a road course and was impressed with them both. I really liked them, but don't love them.
I didn't like either car better than my e92, which I drove to and from the track in. Yeah it's slower and doesn't brake as well, but I just like the "old girl". It's the last of the classic approach to BMW M cars. And to me, that's what makes it special and worth keeping around. If/when the time comes to sell the M3, I'm quite set on leaving the BMW brand as nothing does it enough for me to stick to the brand. And of course, life's too short to drive cars from only one brand. |
