Test drove a 2013 GTR today

I got to test drive a brand new GTR today with only 25 miles on the clock. The sales manager told me to "let it rip" so I gladly followed his advice. As some of you already know, this car feels quick when you pull onto the street but it really comes alive on the freeway. I even brought my Escort 9500ix for the test drive since I didn't want to lose my license. I did a banzai run starting from the beginning of an on ramp. By the time I hit the freeway I was going at around 140 mph; it was all so fast all I could do was hold on and make sure to shift when the engine hits redline. Above 4000 rpm the engine sounds very angry like it wanted to eat other cars alive. This car is freaking fast! Now I know why they called it Godzilla.

It was good to finally drive the GTR and gather my own data. All I can say is that this car does have character. It purrs like a cat at idle; unlike the M3, you would never guess it has monster performance by the way the engine idles and the way the exhaust sounds. But.....when you turn it lose on the track or on the highway, it is clear who is the alpha dog among all the cars on the road. I have some serious thinking to do here...

Well that was pretty dumb doing 140 in public just because some sales guy told you to let it rip. How old are you anyway?

Since you asked, I am 42, and yes, I slowed down to legal speed by the time I merged onto the highway. Why don't you lecture all M3Post members on why it is irresponsible to exceed the speed the limit on the public road. I suppose you never went above the speed limit yourself.

For the record, I do not condone driving at excessive speed or reckless driving. I used the onramp to test out the GTR since that was the only place where no other cars were around me and "acceleration" is expected. Of course, normal cars do not accelerate in the same manner as the GTR. Then again, none of us would be attracted to this car if it were ordinary.

It's all good. Love the judgemental nature of the Internet, way too passive aggressive for my taste in general. I prefer straight aggressive the GTR is quite tempting, like a forbidden fruit

That's how I feel about the GTR, it's pure guilty pleasure.

Regarding the pass-aggressive judgmental comment, I am sure most of us on this forum has "broken the law' at one point or another, but most of us grown ups don't do it at night, while intoxicated, or take excessive risks that are beyond the limits of the cars we are driving. We enjoy this hobby in good health and in a clean way.

I will own a GT-R before the model cycle ends. I'm not going to spend 97k on a car that's going to get more power and become better a year later. I'll wait till they decide the car is at 100%.

When you open up the GT-R, it's like a loud elephant. A really fast, angry elephant.

Yeah it's fast and addictive. So much for the car's official break-in period .

Remind me not to by a GTR on the lot unless I special order it.

OP, sounds like the car was a lot of fun. I rather not tempt myself by driving one.

Someday. I made the mistake of getting into a tuned 2010 and it was much quicker and more brutal than I expected. I am trying to forget so I can sleep! I have never driven a gt3 rs but just sitting in a 2011 a while ago made me wanna cash in some retirement and go bonkers.
