Another Cup Holder Fix - But Different!

Alright. I have the hardly/slow moving driver side cup holder issue. The holder eventually moves so I think the spring is fine. I suspect the speed modulating gear is stiffening up. Does anyone know of a remedy for that gear issue? Anything I can do to it? I haven't seen any threads addressing this specific issue. Some threads do suggest removing it but I don't want the karate speed cup holder either. TIA!

Remove, dissembled, clean, and lubricant it.

1. Pry off the trim starting from the passenger door engage.
2. Remove Two Phillips screws
3. The assembly can be pulled out.
4. The whole thing is held together by a bunch of plastic clips. Be careful not to let the spring go haywire.
5. Use some dry lubricant and put it back together.

Takes 30 mins.
