replaced at around 68k miles
currently at 102k miles the TA units were rebuilt with "upgraded" parts so supposed to last longer Quote:
I didn't notice anything loose but I will check it again and also test the voltage https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BAT9849 this is the battery I installed. has 36 month replacement so if it's just the battery, that would be GREAT

If it's that, I think TA-rebuilders offer lifetime warranty, you'd only have to spend the shipping value and wait some days (or weeks) letting the car sit in the garage. But yes, it's easier to test battery first, I'd definitely do that. |

I’ve not experienced a throttle actuator failure, does it include a dsc failure warning? That battery you installed should be fine unless….you didn’t register it, a process telling the car electronically that it has a new battery. Otherwise you’ll toast the battery in 2-3 years and these problems are right on schedule. If battery was registered and terminals tight, check the ground cable which can corrode. Scan the alternator. There’s also a small wired device on the battery that can go bad- someone chime in before my brain gets enough caffeine. Last edited by CamasM3e93; 03-17-2023 at 09:44 AM.. |

UGH
so i went to autozone to test the battery - immediately showed Battery health - FAIL so i went to NAPA Auto to try to get a replacement under warranty. the local NAPA Auto was an independent shop so they would not replace my battery with just my online order receipt - I needed the PAPER INVOICE that I signed when I picked up the battery ... from 2 years ago wtf so I call the corporate owned Napa Auto and confirm that they can replace my battery under warranty without a paper copy take out the battery (anyone who's done this knows what a pain in the ass it is) borrowed a friend's car and drove 30 minutes to the Napa corporate store tested with 2 different testers and battery is GOOD wtf?? i stopped by an O'Reilly's to test one more time - battery GOOD so i drove back and just put the battery back. after driving around a bit, entered limp mode again what a waste of 5 hours to achieve nothing other than to find out that the battery is not the culprit battery voltage is fluctuating from 13.4 to 14.2v but mostly under 14v most likely need to replace Voltage Regulator? how difficult of a job is that?

I have always been particular on yellow Angels to make them pop a little more especially on older models (ran stock bulbs in my e39). Not sure if e9x are "too modern" for yellows or "too old" for bright white to be appropriate, like on the new models. I won't be making the change anytime soon since I just upgraded to White 189s but good to see someone has done the yellow |

the car manages the voltage to prevent battery from overload, what would reduce its lifespam. it's not like a simple alternator that keeps full power fulltime. I had a voltage regulator failure once. battery died while car was running (luckly I had just arrived at home). then charged again at 14.5, sometimes 15.5v, then intermitently coming to 12v~12.5v. that's an alternator coming off. changed the regulator, never had those intermitent problems again. but some other problem happened to the alternator that made me replace it entirely. so... I guess your culprit is the TA bank B. |

by the way, feel bad about your journey today. PITA.
about the voltage regulator job, it's not hard. definitely fine if you have a lift and some socket extensions. little hard if you don't. but I wouldn't bet on that. |

Finished up my Fall Line DCT pan install and pulled the spacers off because I was getting too much rub up front. While I was in there I changed the jet pump, suction and pressure filters and associated o-rings. 6.25L of LiquiMoly DCT fluid no leaks. My pressure filter cap o-ring was completely flat.

Clay’d, iron decontaminated, and polished my car to get it ready to replace the 10 year old paint protection film. Then coated the car and wheels with Adams Advanced Graphene coating.

Didn’t really want to drive it in the rain but I had to do a shakedown test of the transmission mod. But good ol Washington state in the spring …
300 mile test run to Pullman for work and so far so good. Mid way across Snoqualmie hear the BMW death “bling” sound and my heart froze. Turns out it was 37f out and she was warning me of winter conditions. I need to code that goddamn chime off or something. I hear that in my nightmares |

Did some "get ready for spring" stuff before I can actually turn the outside hoses back on for good.
Dropped off two of my ZCP wheels to get some curb rash removed and refinished Hand polished the wood dash trim to remove scratches Vacuumed the interior and shampooed my floor mats Did some leather dye touch up on my driver seat and conditioned the leather Can't wait to give her a good spring bath!

Surprisingly good match to the factory leather. I had also tried this stuff https://bespokeleathering.com/produc...ed-repair-dye/ but found it to be a bit too glossy, and not matte enough.
