I am looking to buy a used 2008 e90 m3. Is there anything that I should look out for?

Thanks.

Get it fully inspected with BMW before buying it. They should tell you if there's anything that needs to be replaced or fixed. All the best,

Have the service history checked as well, most dealers will still do this for you. Otherwise nothing notable to look out for. Most annoying thing for me has been the hard upper window seal that will scratch tints (happens to a lot of E90s.) So you can see, not a lot to worry about with this car (though I have a 6MT not DCT, which is another story...)

Garage List
orrr, pay a technician 100 bucks and have him go over the car for you. an alternative to spending thousands and the car has problems.

Very first year E46M3 had quite a lot of issues but surprisingly 08 M3 (first year of E9X M3) had no issue at all. I'm very happy with my 08E90M3.
But if you're buying a used, PPI is must unless you know the owner/driver very well.

Check the plastic undercarriage protector. it's right behind front bumper. Middle part is plastic and side pieces are felt.

I guess mine was cracked when I bought because the entire plastic piece in the middle broke off. OEM part was $150 and I installed myself. I think dealer quoted me 300 to replace.

And rear tire tread. PS2s aren't cheap.

As others have said, get it inspected first and do not get DCT because it doesn't shift as smooth as the 09 and later.

Don't agree with you on the DCT, my 08 is just fine and very fast with DCT

Thanks guys!

Another question for you guys..what else is different between the 08 and 09+ models beside LED tails and auto dimming side mirrors/vinyl visors in the 2011?

I had an issue related to the main bearing on two 08 M3s (manual transmission). I now have an 09 w/o the issue.
