rs4 vs m3? no, more like M3 vs s5/rs5

all this talk about the new m3 rivaling the rs4 has gotten old.
I know why they are comparing the two closesly....but, personally I am debating on weather to get the new M or the new S5 or wait for the RS5.
I currently own a e46 m3 that is heavily modded and i am absolutely in love with it. however, it is a 2002 and i think its time for a change.
I am currently deciding what car to get weather it be the new M3, Audi S5 or wait a while for the Rs5 which is going to be insane.
I think the new S5 is being overlooked.
No, it does not have as much hp as the new m3, but it looks amazing to me and will still be fast with 354hp, and better yet, its a coupe which like a lot of us i know I HAVE to have.
Just posting up the s5 pics and wanted to know your thoughts on it.
Please dont bash me because im just posting to get ur thoughts...like i said I own an m3 myself.
Thanks guys..

INFO:
Alongside the new A5 coupe, Audi launched the S5 for the 2008 model year. It features a powerful V8 FSI engine, which produces 354hp and 325lb-ft of torque. Like the A5, the new S5 features an engine placement behind the front wheels, resulting in ideal weight balance.

Like all Audi "S" models, the S5 has sportier suspension, unique front and rear fascias, performance wheels and brakes, carbon fiber interior elements, and the choice of a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox.

A wide 108.3in wheelbase, the widest in the sport coupe segment, helps "provide direct feedback to your most aggressive steering demands," Audi says.

The car features a Bang & Olufsen Sound System with a 12-speakers and 465 digitally amplified watts. Microphone-based noise compensation ensures optimum sound under varying road conditions and speeds.

The basic issues with the Audis are that the cars are too heavy and the engines are positioned too forward. I don't see that changing with the S5 or the RS5. Therefore, I don't really see them comparing to the M3 when it comes to handling. I also think the noses/grills Audi stuck in its new lineup of cars is plain simple hideous!

+1

Why use a V8 for only 354 HP ??

The S5 looks like a Rino on high heels....................................

Audi made some drivetrain adjustments and was able to reposition the engine farther back for RS5 and the new A4,S4, and 5 lines. I think you will be suprised at how good this car performs even with all wheel drive. IMO I think it is a beautiful and expensive looking car and the design comes together as an integrated whole better than the e92 M3. However, I don't like the lack of room in the back seats compared to the E92.

Ready For My "Flaming"

Normally when I mention Audi and their styling, I get trounced like a Cheap, Truck-stop Hooker in a Sunday Church Pew....
I simply am astounded at the LACK of styling, adornments, molding, etc. and then by that incredibly lame 4 Circle thing of an emblem... Audi's don't actually even have a style. They seem to be the clay pre-design shapes that exist before the designers start carving on them...
Know what Audi’s look like? Marshmallow Puffins with wheels. Why in Gods name is everyone so ape about a line of models that have no lines? No edges, no bulges, really…

I seem to be one of the few humans breathing air that is astonished by this weird, Acid LSD like effect on the motoring public of Audi’s “great looks.”
The 08’ Accord and Civics… The 08’ Camrys, literally, I’m not kidding, look 3 times better than the little bloated beasties called ‘Audi.’

I firmly believe it’s a mass hysteria situation. 3 people stand in the window of an Audi dealership screaming “Oh My God! How gorgeous!” Suddenly everyone gets out of their cars, run over and start drooling. Had those same 3 nit-wits screamed in horror, the entire crowd would have crooned in like sheep, vomited on cue and ran for the hills.

Ok, Audi lovers, chime in, tell me all about the styling of the rounded bean-bag clones called Audi...

I'm not telling! But Audi gets me over the hump when my dealer is dry. I just stare at one and I feel all warm inside. And the colors!..... everything looks so bright and vibrant....

This is a total crap and inappropriate post. Posting your thoughts/comparisons of cars that are competitive with the new M3 is FINE. But your post, especially the parts quoted above read like an Audi sales brochure. Take it elsewhere, please.

RS5 isn't competitive with ///////M3.It looks as though, it will unfortunately be superior. With guaranteed at least 450 horsepower and 500 ft/lb of torque it will be so much faster than the bimmer ((((. Im sure there will be lots of chip upgrades that will easily ring in over 550 hp since it will be twin turbo.

It isn't how fast you go, it's about how you go fast. M cars win in this regard traditionally against Audis.

I agree with you on their styling in particular the nose/grill. I was an audi fan until their current generation of designs. From some angles, the RS5/S5 look kinda like a cheap Korean car

hahah you guys are so touchy i swear.
its comical.

I got that info from an Audi review buddy so relax.

What they say about BMW owners unfortunately does hold true a lot of the time.

I mean some people are stuck up and feel BMW is god.

u need me to say this again...I OWN AN M3.

I just wanted to get peoples thoughts on the upcoming cars.

Take a chill pill and go hug your bmw and act like your better than the rest of the world...

I personally like the new Audi R5 and I absolutely love the interior. However, at what 350 horses and at a price point of an M3, how in the world could you say that it competes? This thing looks like it will weigh more and have less power than the new M3.....not forgetting that it will be 4wd!!! This Audi isn't a true competitor if you ask me. If they put 420+ horses and kept the price inline with the M3, then it may be a competitor (still not sure about the weight though...)

I've never owned an Audi, but generally have thought they have more integrated and cleaner designs than BMW (my opinion, as an architect). The RS5 rear from the side looks a little odd to me, though. I do like the interior, though it's nothing radical. As others have said, this is a large coupe. The RS5 is probably better compared to the M6.

Um, rs4 is already more expensive than the E92 M3. The S5 wont compare and if the RS4 is already more expensive than the M3, the rs5 will most likely be even more expensive therefore putting it out of league for comparison. Not to mention, all three of those cars are fugly.
