Honestly, I have EDC on my car, and I more or less leave it at Comfort 90% of the time (although I have Swift springs which stiffens it up). My E36 also has coilovers set on full stiff, and I don't mind it. I don't really play around with the settings all that much to be honest, so I don't think I'd miss out all that much by going passive. I know for sure I'll drop the car eventually (front gap is terrible, worse than E9x was). Same with wheels. I like the 19s. But I know sooner or later, the mod bug will bite, and I'd want to go aftermarket.

So if you added a sedan + 2014 Formula 1 car which are also turbocharged now... the cocktail you get is an F80. Still the best all-around car in the world.[/QUOTE] Except unlike the S65, the S55 has no F1 blood passed down to it. So the same blender metaphor doesn't quite work with the F80. |

No kidding, me too. Although if there's one thing that the E36 has taught me the last couple of weeks, it's that just don't need all these things. The E36 has a super stiff clutch, perfect steering feel (IMO), electric windows, a sunroof, AC and a radio. That's pretty much it. And that's all I need!

It sounds like he's saying he'd take the CCB option because he knows he' eventually spend money on a BBK if he didn't.

Karusell (I more than trust his opinion) reported absolutely no brake fade on the track, which is almost hard to believe considering this is a BMW. Do pads, brake fluid and maybe SS and you'll be good to go.

Keep in mind most PCar guys switch out the PCCBs for steelies at the track. The rotors are ridiculously expensive to replace.

So I just test drove the M4 back to back on the same roads with my e92.
Observations: 1. The M4 is bigger and drives bigger than the e92. 2. Steering is pretty good. Better than what I expected, but the sharpness is off just a touch from the e92 3. No discernable difference in the suspension feel/handling/composure, but I was no where near the limits. 4. Exhaust from outside the car at idle is pitiful and embarrassing. From inside, overall sound is okay. Not great, just okay. Nothing close to the automotive symphony produced by the S65, however. 5. Interior is different, but not really any nicer. 6. The seats, for me, were better than the e92 in how they fit my body 7. With regards to the engine, they did a pretty good job of eliminating turbo lag. Of course, throttle response is not like the S65, but it isn't bad by any means. And there is plenty of solid torque in the mid range as many have said. 8. The car I drove was a manual and really felt similar to my e92. The shifter was longer overall and I didn't like this. I hated the rev matching. Felt very odd. I prefer to do this myself. Overall, it is a nice car, but it just isn't really any better than the e92, just different. And to tell you the truth, it doesn't drive that differently either. Apart from the mid-range torque, the e92 is as good or better. Even the looks...it is a good looking car, but so is the e92. It's just a new face. I am impressed with the car, but no more than I was impressed when I drove the e92 for the first time. I will certainly consider it when it is time for a new car, but overall, from the e92, it is a lateral move at best.

The stock brakes have been reviewed. Peruse the F8X forum.
