Yup. More heat = higher exhaust gas velocity.

+2 Correct
I guess EAS also thinks that you wrap exhaust on a race car to keep it cool from the hot track?

This coating does nothing and is just another reason to market insanely overpriced items to the dopes here that will buy them.

The theory is that the surface temperatures are lower because the heat is being kept in the gas by the coating and not being transferred to the exhaust components themselves.

It's being transferred to the components and trapped there, not being released to the air.

Depends if the coating is being applied inside and out of the exhaust. I would agree that if it isn't being applied to the inside, then the heat will be stored in the exhaust components. Even still, the coating is not going to cool the exhaust gasses as some seem to be implying, but it will decrease the outside temperature of the exhaust.

The tips are cool... the ridiculous amount of salt here in the winter has destroyed mine and would probably kill those also. The inside of my Akra ti tips are a blue/black carbon color now and I don't think I can get them clean without a wire brush. Just saying that all this stuff starts off very sexy but changes with use and conditions.

Tips look good in black, but I see zero point in ceramic thermal coating this system unless you got money to burn.

I didn't really wash my tips all winter here in Pittsburgh - due to a family tragedy consuming all my time. They looked awful, but tons of wd40 and a soft toothbrush cleaned them up in an hour or so of hard work. They look pretty much new minus the natural bronzing effect of the titanium.

thanks you to staff @ EAS for the Black Edition Akrapovic Titanium Evolution Exhaust System.

With people complaining about price, oh well... there will always be people complaining about that on even simple 100 dollar items all over the internet...

Anyone in the market for a full Titanium exhaust already knows that it costs money to play, unless you want to play with broken hangers and such from other "Ti" exhaust manufacturers...

Akrapovic systems are already and proven through many different avenues of motorsport and as soon as I got back into the E9x M3, this was one of the items on top of my list.

I chose the black finish for various reasons:

exclusivity (for now) and I love the PVD satin black finish... Performance can be debated whether heat dispersion is more or less or so on but in the end, I am the customer and it was my choice.

Couldn't be happier
