Recaro - do they or did build seats for BMW
I think Recaro builds seats for many OEM's - BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, etc.
And maybe they still build for BMW, anyone know this to be true? I ask because how is it people can order actual OEM BMW (like Fox Red) leather for the Recaro's that companies like EAS or IND sell. Thank you, Merlin

I've not heard Recaro being a supplier for BMW seats. My friend has a modern Ford Mustang and it apparently came from the factory with badged Recaro seats so I'm aware they are in some product lines. Other users in this forum have had their Recaro seats re-upholstered to match their factory leather. You can also purchase leather dye kits for specific factory colors, even dying black leather to the Fox Red.

Here's who Recaro is making OEM seats for currently: https://www.recaro-automotive.com/us/oem. The only BMW seats they're currently providing are basically racing buckets.
The M Performance seats sold by BMW were Recaro CSs with the airbag. Presumably ordered to spec by BMW. Those were only alcantara covered. The versions of those (original M Performance seats or CSs in general) in leather have been refinished by a third party. I think it's reasonably easy to get the same leather that BMW uses, but that's not coming from BMW or Recaro.
