From M to M - Back to the e92 M3
Long time lurker finally deciding to post some pictures of my e92 m3. A little backstory.
Originally started down the M journey in 2013 with a European delivery of a space gray e92 m3. Was an amazing experience - drove from Munich to Zuggspitze, then to Baden Baden. Drove around the Schwazwald for a couple of days before heading to Stuttgart and then on back to Munchen. Still remember hitting 145 on the autobahn - I understand why these cars didn't come with cup holders back in the day. Had the car for 3 years and at the end of the lease, couldn't make a decision on what to do next. Ended up extending the lease month after month for 6 months before finally deciding to give up the M (biggest mistake). Figured I would try something else for shits and giggles. Saw the Mazda Mx5 RF. Was not a big mazda fan but they seemed to do so well in autocrosses and a couple of co-workers recommended it so jumped on the launch edition. Beautiful car but man was it small compared to the m3 (and the m3 is not a big car). Anemic engine but given my non-highway commute, not an issue. Trick retractable targa roof which did come in handy a couple of times. It lasted 1 year before I realized I could not live with that car. Decided to get back into my M and just picked up my 2009 Jerez Black e92 m3 a few weeks back. Since then, I've been making some cosmetic mods but there is still a long way to go. Looking forward to being part of the e92 community. Completed Fiery Orange 3M wrap: Shout out to AlphaWerks and David Thornhill. Amazing Job Love it. Reddish in diffuse light, bright orange in the sun CF Front Lip and Rear spoiler, Side Grill inserts and hood vents F80 type front grille slats Planned Exhaust (Borla ATak or Remus Sport - still debating) Refinish headlights (the yellowing stands out even more now) Suspension (Original owner had it on H&R springs - looking at dampers If you see me driving around the bay area, say hi. I'm mostly around Los Altos, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Gatos, Saratoga areas and plan on driving through 9 and skyline often. Some pics from the original m3, miata and the current m3 with a little bonus at the very end. Cheers Last edited by lancerr; 08-21-2018 at 02:27 PM.. |

Seems to be a theme that people come back to this s65 powerplant. Wrap looks good, see you around the bay area!

Welcome back! The Miata fastback looks like a blast to drive, but I could t imagine it as being a primary car.

The wrap looks great! Maybe I'll see ya in the next few days. I'm driving up to SF from LA for work tomorrow morning through Friday. My E92 is jet black.

I hear ya. it helped a lot that the car's jet black paint was in such a shitty condition when i bought it. Also worked out well since the door jamb didnt look wierd as a different paint color. Would definitely wrap again. Now if they could combine a vinyl wrap and clear bra, that would be great.
