I also noticed that you don't get the text audio alert when a text comes in. You see the Apple/Carplay text alert at the top of the screen, but there is no audible text chime over bluetooth. You can repsond using voice/Siri, but you don't get an audio alert over BT streaming. Audio apps do sound good though.

Here's to hoping the update actually does something when it comes. I feel like having those missing audio features reduces the benefit of this unit.

Hi all! Michael from Kremesino told me the update is being tested, but they don’t have enough customers to test it. He asked me if I want to be a tester. And now I’m waiting for him to send me the update for testing. IDK but this sounds awkward to me.

I was told this when I asked him what was being fixed.

Yes, engineer had found out the place which will influence sound quality, includes notj Audio and call. But the adjusting job in software amd testing job takes longer time than expect

The ARK chips I have nothing on but the 4558 chip is the opamp.

http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/rc4558.pdf

Replacing this chip may be enough to fix the audio quality.

Is there a suitable "drop-in" replacement for the 4558, without other components needing to be modified/added to accommodate the new opamp?

Do you notice any sound differance between the wired and wireless box.

My seller wants to send me a wired version as it has better sound.

I just installed the wired one from Joyeauto in my brothers car today. It is significantly better audio and what I would expect from the kremersino ones.

The audio matches my Tune2Air

So here are my current issues with the Kremersino Unit.
  1. Streaming audio is very poor. The treble range lacks clarity and there is almost no bass. The highs sometime crackle even at lowest AUX gain. Currently, Tone preset is max bass, 4 from max for treble to get some sort of bass.
  2. Siri seems to be unable to determine my voice when driving. It seems to be unable to differentiate background noise vs my voice.
  3. Phone call volumes are not independent of Music volume. This would be fine, but phone calls are dramatically lower than music. This makes a very abrupt change in volume after hanging up.
  4. During phone calls, the other party will hear themselves as an echo. It must be because the mic is picking up the speakers and not knowing it is not part of the conversation.

My brother's JoyeAuto Wired Apple Carplay version (it also uses the Limcet name during carplay) appears to have no issues with Issue #1.

I asked how to convert it to USB Apple Carplay:

Quote:

How to set wireless/wired carplay/Android Auto

1, At CarPlay interface, choose setting
2, Click system info--factory mode
3, Insert password 688612
4, Choose factory setting
5, Click Android link type--choose Android Auto-ok
6, Click Iphone link type--choose CarPlay wireless means wireless version Choose CarPlay means wired version-ok
7, After choose the one you want, click APPLY-SYNC
8, After SYNC finish-backup-choose system update-ok
9, The box will restart and setting finish

Has anyone tried the USB Wired Carplay to see if the audio is the same problem? Also I mentioned to Michael that my brother's wired JoyeAuto had great audio and he said Joyeauto was a customer of ours. Interesting...

That's good! I was going the get a refund but I may get the seller to send me a wired version to try.

So if I am not mistaken it looks like the poor audio is only a issue in the newer wireless boxes ?.

I own a android and will be using android auto.
Unfortunately, I do not own an Android to test this out for you (at least one new enough, have a super old MotoX).

I didn't know AA had wireless connectivity. Is that how you are using it? Michael@Kremersino said that JoyeAuto was their customer for the wired version of their unit. The newer wireless version from Kremersino is the same package but has WiFi antennae on the back of it.

Joyeauto is now using a competitor's wireless ACP module which is why they look larger and different. Same vendor that BimmerTech is using for theirs.

That's ok. I just confirmed with my seller that AA will work on the wired version

Really glad it's possible to use USB for CarPlay on this unit, solves my auto connection issue since I always plug my phone into power in the car anyway. Connects every time via the cable.

I've attached some images of the factory menus, any idea what the audio one might do?

Also I was able to swap my CarPlay menu from left to right (as traditional in RHD cars), though I switched it back as I prefer it on the other side.

Also found this about that audio chip:

I'd been using USB Carplay most of the time and the audio sounds exactly the same (via AUX input). No difference that I can tell.

I have JoyeAuto wired for about 4 months now. I have to say so far so good. I don't have any issues you have listed above except phone call volume being tied to music volume. When I'm listening to music at a comfortable volume. The call comes in much lower making me turn up the volume. After the call the music kicks back in and the volume is obnoxiously high.

My microphone seems to work without issues too. The quality is a bit shitty but people can hear me with no echos. It picks up quite a more road noise vs the factory one. I also have no issues using my mic for siri commands. I can voice dial, open apps, change tracks, siri recognizes all of those commands.

It seems from the general vibe of this thread theres still a few bugs to work out with the wireless version. But I think the wired version is rock solid if it's not a defective unit like some people got earlier in this thread.
