Rake change?
Hi Guys,
been running OEM 18's with standard 245/265 road tyres for track days but have graduated to track tyres with Apex8 9.5/10.5. The track set has 265/35 and 285/30 fitted. The 'standard road tyre rake' is 8mm nose down - if we just using the tyre size as the rake metric. The above track set will change this by raising the nose 15mm - leading to a 7mm nose up (track set) vs 8mm nose down (road set). Anyone using a similar setup care to comment on the effect on balance, cornering etc by changing so much from the 'standard' rake? My sums show a 285/35 rear will set a rake that virtually matches the road setup - which I think may be a better solution. Opinions and experiences most appreciated. |
