I have a Tundra, I get not wanting to drive a pickup often. But if you want a lot of power and a lot of luxury, and want to tow, go smash that Ford/Chevy easy button imo

Hell you can even get the Ex or Tahoekon with that powertrain without the “remove entire body for service” service position of the Uber German SUV’s
mrs beef insists she won't drive a truck. otherwise this would already be done.

Sold it at 130k miles, only because I don’t live somewhere it snows anymore and also don’t need a tow vehicle. Worth a look. I also don’t like driving trucks around daily, or boring SUVs. The Jeep was a nice compromise.
we test drove a v6 cherokee last night and it was better than i expected. seats seemed a bit flat and firm and i can see them being uncomfortable on a long trip. otherwise, nice trucks. price was reasonable.

we also test drove a new highlander. somewhat mediocre. not as much of a dog as i though it was going to be, but just not my flavor. very bland, rubber stamp, forgettable suv. can't tow anything. driver's seat moves six ways, passenger seat moves four... just annoying stuff like that. it was close to $40k and i just don't see $40k sitting there.

We were a little underwhelmed with the power. We both expected it to be a little more peppy. Decent power for an suv, but it's nothing to gawk over. I'm having second thoughts about it...
Give the x5m a shot. No issues with power there... Also familiar interior technology as well. Not sure about its towing rating tho..

I believe it's 5k, but if I'm remembering correctly, the M cars aren't rated. I'd be concerned about the dual clutch if it has it.
edit- 2019 x5m is 6k towing capacity... might be kinda close. you trying to sell yours?

With a X5M you could be fixing two cars in the paddock!

Nope not selling, just starting to break it in, hit 20k miles yesterday.

It has a ZF trans, no dual clutch. https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1230015

Check out the Expedition or Tahoe. Both available with the serious towing engines and (at least on the Expedition) load leveling

Also, CPO Durango SRT is a thing now and that has a nice long wheelbase and a 7k plus tow rating

Okay, really stupid question here but this has been getting on my nerves for a while now.

My Schroth lap belts have a lot of slack on the "pull strap" that tightens them. It's seriously like one foot on each side. It's enough that they flap around and are constantly getting twisted or I have to find a place to tuck them. What can I do about this?

Tighten them on the end with the buckles to attach to seat. Either roll up the excess and hold in place with zip tie or cut it off and burn the end to prevent unravel. The side that you pull should be far shorter

If the belts are for you, cut them shorter. Unless I'm mistaken it's simply webbing. Take it to outdoor store if you need help or access to a hot blade to prevent fraying. Can pickup a new pull handle to attach to the end.

Zip-tie is a good idea, same thing I did for the wrap on the harness bar. Thanks!

I am ... but I forgot I have a wedding to attend to Saturday so unlikely to attend, currently trying to find someone to bring my wheels down to my student who’s buying those and bring back tires from Jens for me. Otherwise I might just trek down Sunday to hang out and maybe take some photos

To run the car I’d have to leave the wedding early then arrive at VIR at like 2am haha won’t be worth that hassle. Solid 5 hour commute

Are you doing TT?

Probably not. I am coming the weekend before with Chin to meet up with some friends from Texas.

The car ran well at Mid Ohio National Championships. I plan to run more Mid Atlantic events next year.

I appreciate the consideration. What is your suspension setup?

Up front, 18x10.5" ET25 is slightly too high of an offset, especially if your goal is to run 295 Hoo Hoo's. You'll end up running spacers for added inner clearance.

18x10.5" ET22 has 3mm of extra inner clearance, which allows most 275 and 285 compounds to fit without spacers as long as you have compliant suspension. Wider 295's may be a direct fit, or they may require 3mm or 5mm spacers. It ultimately comes down to tire brand, ride height and spring stack height (location of lower spring perch).

We offer 18x10.5" ET22 in our SM-10 and FL-5 flow formed designs, as well as our all-new ARC-8R and EC-7R forged wheels.
