Porsche 997 GT3 6pot Brembo brake on M3 e92

Hello everyone,
I finally decided to upgrade my braking system and decided on a porsche 997 gt3 mk2 6-piston brembo brakes with 380mm rotors on the front axle and a 4-piston brembo brakes coming from a porsche 997 Carrera 4S for the rear axle with 370mm rotor. Metallic hoses, motul rbf660 liquid and pagid rs29 pads. OMG! What a change!!! Even I did not believe it, the difference with the original system was abysmal. Much greater stopping power and very resistant to fadding.

Both the front and rear rotors come from a BMW M4 F82, later when it is worn I will look to put a two-piece aftermarket rotors with greater width. Since the clamp allows greater width than the OEM.

Here we have a photo of the support and doing tests:

Once everything was ok, I decided to paint my brake calipers in yellow

And the end result:

And best of all, what made me decide on this combination was that it allows me to run 18" wheels with 6-piston brakes and 380mm rotors.

I hope you liked it and one more option to update your brake system.

Regards!

For documentation purposes (anyone else looking into this kit) could you provide part numbers for the calipers that you used, and also which hoses you went with?
Also, the website for the manufacturer does not list a kit for the e92 m3 platform.

Yeah, sure, no problem.

Components required:
- Porsche 997 991 GT3/Turbo 6-piston calipers, Part number 997.351.431 left + 997.351.432 right
- BMW M2 M3 M4 380x30 brake disc part number: 34112284809 left + 34112284810 right

The epytec.de website has the adapters ready:
https://epytec.de/de/bremssatteladap...-adapter-13455

On the other hand, the metallic hoses made me personalized, since it has to have a bmw terminal end and the other porsche terminal. That in a specialized spare parts store can be done without problems.

For the rear axle I have to take a good look at the caliper references.

The rear discs I have used:
- BMW M2 M3 M4 370x24 brake disc part number: 34212284811 left + 34212284812 right

The problem that the support on the rear axle was made by my own mechanic and he doesn't sell it...

Any questions here I'm to help.

I use the car for fun and leisure. Normally energetic driving on mountain roads and several trackdays a year (around 6 times or more)

Sorry, I misunderstood when the mobilephone automatically translated this website. Well it depends, I found them in Germany for around $900

Hi,
Reviving this old thread but does anyone know the difference between the carrier in the M3 front compared to E9X non-M front?

Been looking for information about porsche calipers on the e9x non-M but this is so far the first I've found.

Thanks!

Honestly, I don't think so, since that company itself specifies very well what type of caliper and rotor its support has to go with.

Just a word of caution...due to their complete opposite drivetrain layouts, the brake torque output at each end of the M3 and a Porsche 911 are very different. For example, in many of our six piston front brake kits for the 911, we use a six piston caliper with 27/28.6/31.8mm pistons, mated to a 372mm disc. For the e9x M3, we use that same 372mm disc, mated to a six piston with 27/31.8/38.1mm pistons...much larger, and generating a much different level of brake torque output.

I won't go into all the intricacies of brake bias/balance, but all I will say is that just because a certain caliper and disc can be bolted to a given vehicle, doesn't mean that doing so will provide a performance upgrade. It may look better, and someone may have the impression that they feel better. If you were to do instrumented testing howver, you'd likely find that your braking distances increased (took longer to stop) rather than decreased (the desired outcome). There are also potential integration issue with ABS, etc.

Also, my gut tells me nobody performed FEA analysis on that brake caliper bracket to determine what stresses it will be under.

In summary, it's not just as simple as throwing a bunch of parts designed for one vehicle onto another if you want to retain or improve upon the factory brake performance. They will look cool, but everyone please be cautious when doing this sort of thing. We've seen a bunch of these situations end poorly for the vehicle owner over the years.

Thank you very much for your comments jritt@essex , I have read quite a few of your articles as they seem very good to me and I think you do an incredible job.

My first option was a bbk kit from APracing, specifically the CP5555, due to its lightness and its more than proven performance. At that time I did not find any kit nor did I have the budget and researching the German forum I saw that this option existed.
So I got in touch with the people at epytec and they were the ones who recommended the necessary caliper and rotor for their support for a good performance.
I had to do tests to pass the technical inspection of my country and the car really brakes in fewer meters and in the case of the circuit the fadding and vibrations have disappeared and they have endured many laps in a row without noticing changes in the brake pedal.

I don't rule out an update in the future, but for now I'm happy with the result
