Front Rotor MM Req.
Hey guys,
recently been trying to find out how much my front rotor's need to have to still be in good condition to drive. I can check the pads pretty easy but wanted to know how many MM my rotors should have before replacing those too? I read somewhere between 26-27mm should be the minimum. Is there any such thing as a "noise" I should be hearing if I know the rotors are shot? Currently no drag or shaking, small noises when I heat them up but I feel thats normal. Thanks, Dom

Min is engraved on rotor hats. I have gone well bellow the min but I am not recommending it. I usually run 2 sets of pads per rotor and have never had a problem. Just did my 6th pad service a few weeks back. There isn't any noise or vibration unless you are hard on your brakes and have developed warping. I guess the only thing I've noticed is a deeper depression during the last life of the 2nd pads on that same rotor.

In my experience on all my BMWs E90 M3, E70 X5 and F06 M6, when my pad sensors go off, I run about 600 or some more miles and it's at a point where my rotors are also close to minimum thickness. I must run my brakes down pretty hard.
