BEWARE Scammers lurking on the Forums
Was looking for some 08,E93 LCI tail lights on the forum. And received a private message from "Rav22" left me his email (c22lar20@gmail.com), he has some LCI lights for sale.
Don't be fooled by his "42",posts he is a scammer. In fact he may be the same scammer that contacted me on M3forum.net. Insisting that i pay via walmart money order, not PayPal. He will also provide clear and precise pictures of the items your looking for. I posted a similar thread on M3forum.net. I know most of you seasoned members won't fall for this. But just for the new members joining or any others who may have a small lapse of judgement beware!! |

They're all over the place. back in late 2017 when I was searching for my car, I came across a scammer that was attempting to scam me AND the legit seller of a car lol. He had positioned himself as the middle man and the seller had no clue...until I contacted him because things didn't seem right. I saved all the info relating to that "incident".
We should keep a "sticky" of known scammers in the FS forum w/ names, screenshots of emails, phone numbers, patterns etc. Obviously the details change (names/numbers/IP's) but the patterns of the scam are usually consistent. What seems like common sense for those of us that work in the industry might not be for others so it might be worthwhile to save someone else a major headache.

Step one is if everyone uses a certain money mover and they want to do it differently, just tell them to go away.
Example, on a popular video game forum I frequented back in college Amazon Gift Cards and PayPal are the popular forms of payment. If someone came on their talking money orders they would have been laughed out of the forum. Here if it isn't cash in person or PayPal/Venmo, you should just have fun and string them along. |

I always research the seller unless I am already familiar with the person. If any question, usebonly paypal or other that reimburses for fraud. Just common sense. The internet is today’s Wild West for scammers. They almost always get away with it because you can’t find them.
