Are Injector Age A Worry In Australia
So I was convinced I need new injectors for a high mileage car however doesn't seem to be as bigger issue in Australia. Not that I am seeing any faults I just figured its a good idea since the US guys have had a few fails. What are people doing in Australia?

S65 injector failure is rare in any country, but when it does happen it can be catastrophic. It's never a bad idea to preventively replace them on high mileage cars. If your car is low mileage it's a good idea to do ultrasonic cleaning on them.

A friend of mine had them ultrasonically cleaned on a motor he built for his buddy. Injector 1 subsequently failed open after cleaning and bore scored the cylinder. He’s rebuilding an engine again. So I never, ever give this advice anymore.

PCA guys have been recommending periodic use of PEA based injector cleaners to keep them clean. Bore scoring of course is a major concern for them and injector failures are a contributing factor as well with them. I haven’t settled on a service interval for mine, PO changed them out at around 90k miles trying to troubleshoot a stumble. But as this is a forever car for me I’m leaning on having to do them again at some point even with a twice yearly dose of Techron additive.

Hi I’m in Queensland Australia, 154,000 km on my E92 M3. I haven’t done it but have considered it as cheap insurance.
However I want to be 100% sure that what I get to replace the original ones are of good quality so would be interested in people’s feedback on the best go to options too ie the ones mentioned in previous posts. Cheers Last edited by Johnny E92; 04-30-2026 at 08:01 PM.. |

I’m on originals at 289,XXX miles. I’m not saying we should all do that but fuel type is probably paramount here. I only use Chevron 91 for what it’s worth. If we had a higher octane I’d gladly pay for it but California has a “special blend” that only goes to 91. I am actually wanting to do my injectors and not press my luck any further but I t’s like $2,400 in parts and I’m not thrilled about it. Knowing myself and my “well I’m already here” mentality, I’ll make this a 3k job.
