Maintenance at 130k miles?
I have a 2009 e92 M3 DCT with 130k miles. I’ve had it since 35k miles and purchased it as a CPO. I’ve never tracked the car or been very hard on it.
I’m wondering what kind of preventative maintenance should be done or at least some things I should take a look at replacing to prevent my car from blowing up. |

I’ve replaced the rear differential and subframe bushings at 100k, valve covers and gaskets at 120k, rotors/pads/wheel sensors changed frequently, sparks and coils changed at 110k, power steering pump replaced at 80k, schrader valves replaced at 120k. Rod bearings are good.

And starter for that matter. My starter and alternator went within two months of each other.

Doubtful you can fully trust oil analyze. Plenty of stories claiming the opposite. Heres one thread that might be worth reading.

One other item that acted up on my car between 150 and 160 K was the Idle Control Valve. Not that you should replace preventively, but just be aware that it may crop up.

I wouldn’t replace a working alternator as preventative maintenance.

Belts and all pulleys and tensioners.
My pulleys were not making any noise at 89k when I replaced, but the acc tensioner pulley was in ROUGH shape. If I'm going in and replacing IACV and that crap preventively, I'd do errythang: - Idle strips - secondary air circuit/pump - evap valve/piping - TA's - IACV - Maybe even the starter while I have things out of the way Then just about everything plastic in the valley that could develop a leak or has a moving part is new. You can see how quickly this can snowball into a ridiculous exercise. Next time I do a pulley I'm doing the alternator and water pump too beacuse I'll have the belts off and why not. If that's the kind of preventive maintenacne you want to do and spend money on to keep the car running reliably, knock yourself out, but your'e a long way away from necessary at that point.

I wouldn't replace anything at this point. If it is working properly just drive and enjoy... Replace parts as they begin to fail. By the looks of it you took great care of the car. I used to do preventative maintenance and noticed it caused more issues if not done personally.
Just my opinion and best of luck! |
