SA said they charge for parking brake adjustment?
Just a quick one to you folks...
Does this sound right? My tech said the parking brake does need to be adjusted. It would be $130 to adjust the parking brake and burnish in the brake shoes. Should I have him proceed with the adjustment? |

If you are in warranty, they should do it for free... unless you have a break stud conversion kit. They have to have access to the inside of one of the bolt holes. Or you can DIY, there's instructions in the other sub forum.

Mine seems to need adjustment as well. Will see if they cover and report back.

They are supposed to do it during Inspection I/II but I've found that they rarely do. I've asked in the past and they've never charged me (while under warranty).

Time costs money. I learned to roll these small stuff into a major services, generally they'll do it with no additional hours charged. So next time you have brake service, get them to do it for free |

SA covered it for me. I told him I wouldn't bother with the brakes since there's a charge, but he took care of it. Definitely recommending him if anyone needs a SA within the Bay Area.

It's basically the number of "clicks" the handle goes up to engage the parking brake. There is a BMW spec on how many times it should click before it engages, however over time they tend to loosen up. It's not really a huge deal unless you can't get it to engage at all.

That is where I usually go. It's hit or miss there like at most dealers but way better than Fremont BMW which drove my car into a curb.
