Anyone try Federal 595 RS-RR?

Just wondering if anyone has tried the 595 RS-RR on the track and how it compares to Super Sports and Bridgestone RE-71R.

The 595RSRRs are a great sticky mid-compound daily driving tire. I have had multiple sets but compared to the Super Sports I think theyll pale in comparison.

Spend the money and grab the Super Sports I promise you won't regret it.

I beg to differ. 595 RS-RR is same level as Hankook RS3 and Advan AD08R. It's a streetable trackday tire and will have much more dry grip and heat capacity than PSS. PSS will have much more comfort, less noise, and more grip in the wet.

I haven't used the RS-RR personally, but the previous generation RS-R used to not be able to take much heat and sidewalls were prone to bulging. I hear the RS-RR is just an RS-R with stickier compound. They're cheap, no doubt, but I went back to AD08R which last much longer, and handle temperatures much better.

Im planning to buy a set once my RS3 wears out.... At the track I see the RSR on the Japanese cars like the s2000 and BRZs. I talked to one of the s2000 owners that uses it in the TT class and he said they have grip but to overheat quickly especially during the summer. Kinda of a bummer but around $600 for a set of 275/35/18 is a bargain.

So far the RS3 has been my favorite track tire but I paid a little over 1k for my set, and with the new RS4 coming out Im pretty sure it will be in the same price range. Tracking gets expensive so if there is a bargain I'll go for it.

If S2000 drivers are complaining about RS-RR overheating, they probably won't even last half as long on our much heavier M3's. The RS3 gets good reviews all around, but grip drops tremendously beyond 50% wear. The AD08R costs more but handles heat much better and grippy til the end. It's also less noisy than RS3, so a slightly better all round tire if you daily it.

I am currently running federal RSR-R. They handle well etc but I daily drive on them and they are ANNOYING. They're so loud and they sound like I'm driving a truck with off road tires. it's so bad that I'm considering just burning off these tires and getting a new set. My brother had them on his E46 m3 ( i bought the wheels from him ) and he said he thought his alignment was off but once he took the wheels off the car stopped making noise. it was just the tires!!

Yes they drone like hell. AD08R is much quieter.

Thanks for the feedback guys, looks like I'll stay away from these. Guess it's hard to beat the PSS for street use.

Conti is about to release a replacement for DW that should be priced the same and have much better dry grip than the outgoing DW
