Confusing Tire Fitment Question
I have searched and read what was available but I haven't found anything definitive. This car has the upgraded 222m wheels on it. They are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. The stock tire size is 245/35 and 265/35 but it has 235/30 255/30 Blizzaks on it now. When spring comes I was going to probably do a +1 over OEM and get some DW's in a 255/35 front and 275/35 rear. The car sits on H&R Race springs.
I was talking to the previous owner and he was running a summee wheel and tires combo. They were VMR's in what I assume is a 19x9 19x10 size with 265/30 and 285/30 Hankook V12's. Do this combo fit fine. I also have the option of buying this setup relatively inexpensively. What should I do? Buying tires for these wheels and buying the summer tire/wheel combo is pretty much the same If I opt to just buy tires for the stock wheels will +1 sizing work? Thanks in advance.

I assume you mean the 220M Wheels? the OEM 19" M3 Wheels?
Pretty sure that's the wrong tire size you have liste dfor your winters. Those tires would be WAY too small, I assume you mean 235/40 and 255/40? I find the 265/30/19 and 285/30/19 would be too small of a tire. Why? Because the tires are smaller than OEM by a fair bit. If you like the VMRs, then go for it, but I would rather run a 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 setup on the 19x9/19x10 VMRs than the 265/285 combo. |

I apologize, you are right on both accounts. They are 220m and 235/255 40's. I was winging it to get the post up.
I don't necessarily care for the VMR's or the tire profile but it's a decent deal for the money but not really close enough to anything I want. I like the 220m wheels and would just like to run a 255/275 combo. I just hope they clear with the lowering springs. I did a tire diameter comparison and like you stated the 255/275 combo is larger than the 255/285 combo that was run on the car previously. But I think/hope I will be fine.

255/35-19 front, 275/35-19 rear is a great way to go. These will fit under the fenders on the OEM 19" 220M wheels with no issues, even if the car is lowered. The 220M specifications are quite conservative, therefore rubbing isn't really a concern.
As mentioned, many run this setup with spacers for a more flush fitment. What size spacers will depend on ride height, tire brand etc. - Ryan

I run a 255/35-19 and 275/35-19 Conti Extreme DW's, lowered with H&R springs and it cleared perfectly. 10mm spacers in the front and 15mm spacers in the back. Zero rubbing.
