OEM 10-60 but it's also above 100 degrees in slow traffic for me, so to be expected.

Outside temp makes a big difference on my car. We have had a crazy Summer with 30-32C. At this temp my car all of a sudden was well over mid, 104 -106C even at high way driving. Never happened before. At normal say 25C it typically sits below mid, 96-98C.

We are all okay, IMO and after extensive reading these temps are normal.

I'm really surprised to hear that. Outside temps should make minimal difference on oil temps in most cars, short of being in very extreme conditions (ambient below 0F or above 100 F). Even then, you should only see minor changes from "normal". Are you sure your cooling system is working properly? I keep saying this in these threads but I don't think people are stopping to think about how the cooling system works: this is not an air cooled engine, it's water cooled. Anyway, I would not be obsessing over oil temp until you are getting near the 300 F mark -- which I was never even able to do on the track.

Fine, it will rise a little bit, but the point is that it is pretty much irrelevant Also, that gauge is not terribly accurate. Not really sure of the point of everyone posting "well mine is 1.2mm past the middle mark" or "oh yeah well mine is only 0.9mm past the middle mark". Are people really staring at the oil temp needle and panicking because it moved slightly?

I switched to Motul 300v 15w50 and my oil temps are 15-20* cooler at freeway speeds (195-200* slightly below the middle line), about the same 210-220 in traffic, and with spirited driving it will see 230*, but cools down MUCH faster than 10w60. I cant wait to track the car with this oil. It was actually shocking how much better my car responds to the 300v. Worth the extra cash imo
Ambient temps in central florida stays in a 95-100*F range for all of the above observations

That sounds about right OP... I'm in DFW, Texas and run right about that temp anytime it's about 95 and above ambient in stop n go ... freeway run, it's a tad bit lower. When Bmw was with castrol .. on the OEM castrol 10w60 it used to run a hair bit cooler. Since Bmw switched to shell I've noticed that it runs a bit hotter both in summer n winter

Plus , there's one more thing . It can creep up towards the 3/4 mark on the gauge but the thermostat should kick in and lower the temp on the gauge. I've definitely noticed it in Stop n go traffic - it creeps up n then backs down again ( even without hitting freeway speeds).

Scrippy, did you catch this one? The suggestion that the oil thermostat doesn't allow proper flow I found pretty interesting.
