Thanks!

Yeah, I saw you out there. Car looks good. Did you get some good laps in? (And what was up with that mystery GTR guy who annoyed everyone and was too awesome to go to the driver download meetings? )

I had a great time - as always. Yes, I got some good laps in but was struggling a little with the car. I made some changes before the event and was not happy with the results. I didn't improve my previous best time. That being said, I enjoyed the day, didn't wreck, nothing broke and worked on some car control.

Yes, that GTR guy was interesting. Even more interesting was the McLaren 720s that was doing parade laps. I have never seen anything so fast, go so slow.

yeah.....it's tough when you have novice drivers in a high-intermediate group. I really believe that when people are signing up, their egos get in the way.....There's no way that they're gonna sign up for a Novice Group with a $400,000 car. Ironically, at many events, the Novice group has the least amount of people in it. They'd actually have a much better time without 20 "inferior" cars breathing down their neck.

Nice lap Joe. Fiberglass doors ...nice! Are they available for E90? What's your current weight?

I love seeing fresh pavement on a track!! How much time did the repave give you? At Buttonwillow, everyone was basically given a 2 second gift after the repave. It took about 3-4 months before the pavement shed that fresh blacktop greasiness and got some good rubber laid down. Once it matured, it was fantastic.

The repave was worth 2.7 secs for me, compared to my personal best on RE71Rs. I don’t know how the Nexens compareon track, but at an autocross they are fairly equal to the Bstones.

Minimum speeds through every corner are up 2-4 mph. I could brake deeper and get on power sooner, it felt like I was driving on rcomps. The surface is still fairly fresh, with only a handful of days run on it so far. You’re comments on the surface getting even better as the oils dry out and it get rubbered in, as well as the aggregate in the surface getting more exposed, match what I’ve seen and read, still hard to imagine going even faster.

The McLaren actually started the day in the Green group. There was quite a conga line in the first session.

As far as I know, there is no vendor in the USA that has a production set of ready-to-go carbon or fiberglass doors for an E90 M3.

M24 in Germany makes a carbon door set for E90 M3. You can even tell them if you want super light doors and they'll adjust the amount of resin in the carbon. I checked into it years ago. As always, import duty and shipping add significantly to the cost....

I’ve talked to a couple fabricators in the USA. With these kinds of things, you generally want to be the second guy buying them....not the first. So, you gotta try to group together several guys----4 seems to be the magic number to make it affordable. But it’s tough to find a bunch of sedan guys that have committed to full cages and are willing to pay for fiberglass or carbon doors.
