I've never been able to make the car loose, and I run the bar soft. Granted I came from an STS CRX, so my interpretation of loose may be different than others.

285 rears present a different challenge - you run out of gear pretty easily

I did not fell the tire was overly pinched up front but did feel the loss of sidewall gave some of the suspension compliance over imperfections. (I'll scan and post a picture of my car on course last year to illustrate). As for the rears, I did think I gave up enough at the top of 2nd to impact me negatively (dragged the limiter -- esp. on West course finish) as there was no good location to smoothly go to 3rd. A .6 sec over 2 days would have pushed me from 12th (still trophy) to 6th. Obviously, Bucki figured out how to get it to 3rd on day 2 as he was on this setup.

Top speed in 2nd with 275s should be what, 68, compared to 66 with 285s? On another note the FS prepped M3 I've driven prior to buying my car had square 275s and the balance and response felt real nice |

Good luck everyone! Looking forward to meeting some of you out there.
Can we get a roll call going? 1/3 of the entries this year are M3's, albeit some being co-driven.

Wow, just saw this video from A-street today. Literal waves coming off the tires. I wonder what tires work best in monsoon conditions like these. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c17elG6J5Zo

Toying with bringing my e46 M3 instead. Last time I ran it in rain of this sort, it was the better car (though not so in the dry) - perhaps the weight advantage? I'll be watching the weather forecasts before making my decision tonight about which car to load up. One thing to consider is I am not in the trophy hunt given a level playing field, so maybe doing something oddball could benefit me in some way - if it hurts, no big deal really.
Any thoughts? |

In the Atlanta region, Tim Smith (National Title winner) was always faster in his e46 than in my e90. The extra HP/TQU made it harder to exit corners, it takes more finesse with the throttle. So if it as nasty later in the week, the lighter lower HP car might have an advantage.

Lower HP, lighter but with lots of iron on top of a narrower front contact patch!
Longer heavier spinning crankshaft = better yaw resistance thanks to conservation of angular momentum! |

But Shewauwn greer is in the race for best of the rest of the non-Jeffs. All it takes is a couple small mistakes and he's right derr. Hope weather is good and doesn't screw everyone and make it uneven, that's the worst Woop go get em Isn't that the "drift" compound? Just in that size? Or am I thinking of something else like the maxxis or federal? I remember somebody getting excited about one of these recently becaues it was like $150 instead of $225 and that was why

And DSP clawed back for BMW too in the rain, RX8 leading after day 1, last year's winner and his co-driver split the podium with her in 2nd on day 2. Good work all around from fragile old BMW's
