I said their is a tipping point as to when you can feel a kick in the pants and when you can't, i never said you can't tell the difference between 400 and 700hp.

My comment re. 600+ HP is getting to legal (moderately illegal) speeds so damn quickly it hard to enjoy it unless you track it.

I didnít say you meant a difference from 400 to 700. It all depends on how much of an incremental jump weíre talking about. You can go from 400 to 415 and maybe not feel it but go from 400 to 475 or 500 and itís quite noticeable as is 400ish to over 600, itís stunningly obvious and enjoyable.
Donít agree with your second paragraph. I can get from 0-100mph in under 8 seconds( moderately legally) and me and anyone in the passenger seat or driving my car is enthralled by the rush. The fact that it gets there so quickly and requires much less real estate then slower cars to get up to triple digit speeds. One can easy back off throttle, brake and quickly get down to legal speed. Sort of like 0-100-0 the old standard performance test. Speeds up faster, slows down faster.

On a track itís even that much more enjoyable.
On the street and on the track, many have higher powered cars and enjoy them whenever and wherever they turn the key of hit the button to light them off.

Thatís a good thing IMO. I constantly look for F430s and sometimes F360s. Some of the most beautiful Ferrariís made AFAIC.

The bottom line, form follows function. There are basic design characteristics inherent in many mid engine sports cars but as you displayed sakhir there are many differences and they hardly look all that much alike. Itís open to interpretation.
Canít please everybody but I donít think Corvette designers, engineers or buyers care. Theyíre going to sell tons of them for years and like the generations before them they will perform well against the best out there.

I mean, I see some similarity. Calling them identical or not is subjective. There aren't a whole lot of ways to design an aerodynamic rear V8 2 seaters...

I suspect you could do this match with a number of mid engine cars and get similar results....McLaren comes to mind.

Spent yesterday day walking the Carlisle Fairgrounds. It's "Corvettes at Carlisle" weekend. The largest gathering of Corvettes (some 5000 show up) in the country. Chevrolet brought six of their C8's. My goodness, what a beautiful sports car. Like some vehicles, it looks better in person than it does in photos. Even that rear end that I wasn't sure of comes off pretty neat (with the exception of the exhaust tips). Think the C8 will be a landmark car.

Rumors were flying around for a while now and it’s looking like it’s going to happen. The C8 buzz is really something now but things are really going to get interesting for team Corvette in the next few years.
https://www.motortrend.com/news/c8-c...win-turbo-v-8/

Used to love going to the IMSA races at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen to hear the big bass roar on team Corvette going by and it won’t be the same but I’ll get used to the new music played by the C8R, especially when they take podiums.

That is definitely not a pushrod V8. If they are switching over to C8.R for next season, we should have some engines specs around the time of Roar Before the 24(Jan.).

A bit of speculation, I have read that people think the next Z06 will have this flat plane twin turbo engine, I don't think so, I think this high $$$ engine will be reserved for the ZR1.

I think then next Z06 will be another supercharged push rod engine. I was listening to a podcast and the host was told (off the record, at the Corvette launch event in LA) that the company that he worked for had finished developing a supercharger for the C8.

It also makes sense to me, because GM seems to be trying to keep the price points in line with the previous generation, 'if you could afford a C6 Z06 you will be able to afford a C7 Z06'

We shall see, GM brought a mid-engine car to market for a lower price then anyone thought possible, so they may be able to bring a new twin-turbo quad-cam flat plane engine too, but I would be surprised.

I have no desire for a faster model. Is that weird? 500hp just seems like plenty :P

Anything in a vehicle this size and weight above 500hp becomes bragging rights.

There's been a lot of talk that the ZR1 (or some other high end model) would be a hybrid with an electric motor driving the front wheels, to get to the 1000 HP number we've been hearing. Would seem reasonable to have a 'mid range' version with the TT V8 and the high end have that AND the electric motor.

We're pretty sure some high power model is coming because there were reports that there was enough power that it was twisting the frame and they had to go back and strengthen it.

From the link below: "The base model C8 is off to a good start with 495 hp. However, we expect that power to go up significantly with the eventual debut of higher-trim models. 650 and 800 hp are figures we've heard most often for "mid-range" editions. At the top of the Corvette range, we could see a bonkers hybrid with over 1,000-hp driving all four wheels."

So this is implying there's possibly 4 'levels' of performance coming for the C8, which might still mean supercharged V8 and a TT V8.
