cracked windshield - reputable shops

the M has been sitting on my driveway for 2 weeks and i finally brushed the snow and ice off the windshield gently. i go inside and there's a crack on the windshield about 2.5 feet long passenger side.

my insurance covers glass 100% at safelite using their generic glass. however i can request OEM glass but i would pay the difference which i don't mind. i don't know how legit safelite is tho... anyone know of a specific safelite location (great neck, bethpage, queens, westbury, etc.) that does good work or any other shops op long island that can replace oem glass correctly (using the oem moldings as well)?

I had my glass replaced with their glass about 3 months ago. It was at their Queens shop on Jamaica Ave. The glass, in my opinion, is just as good as OEM. The install was very quick and professional.

I used safelight also on my 550 and I had to order special glass because of the heads up display. It was fine. They were quick and did it in my driveway.

+1 for safelite
when i bought my car it had been in a slight accident and the glass had small cracks. I had them replaced it and it is as good or probably even better than the glass that came in the car.

I think i paid $325 or so to have it done………
rain sensor and all works

same here, great experience with safelite, both product and service. Had the windshield replaced same day at one of their locations, in and out in ~2 hours.

I re-calibrated the rain sensor with the BT cable but ultimately I don't know if that was necessary, rain sensor works fine.
