Track day applications appreciated. Cheers |

Lots of AIM data tells me that the M24 cooler is great on the street but offers zero benefit on track. Same goes for the CSF radiator and DCT cooler.

Maybe check with advan performance, they've manufactured larger than oem oil coolers for the N54/N55 135i/335i

I am looking to purchase the Alekshop Oil Cooler, it looks to be best one that still fits OEM with some cutting of the under tray.
It is 14 row and ESS use it as their 'upgrade' cooler for the supercharger kits as re-branded from Alekshop to ESS |

I have the AlexShop oil cooler. Great upgrade! But food for thought: when upgrading the oil cooler it blocks some of the radiator. I was noticing slightly higher water temps with the lower oil temps. So I upgraded the Radiator as well and saw a nice drop in water temp. While the cooler upgrades are nice on there own I believe they should be done together. I ended up with Oil, radiator, and power steering. all CSF except oil cooler
biggest benefit is not so much the lowering of temps but rather once they get to temp they level off and become less erratic. hope this helps.

I have also compared my temps to AIM data captured before the various cooling upgrades. Guess what? Though they are great for the street, none of them are effective on the track. My various temps are actually on average 1 degree lower with the OEM units. On top of that, I am using an EAS misting system, which is actually the most valuable and effective upgrade.
What bothers me most is not a single aftermarket supplier of any cooler for our cars has posted any meaningful track data. So, when I upgraded I figured I would take one for the collective team. I now have plenty of data (at least 8 days worth) from different tracks at various outside temps. and can definitively recommend that anyone considering an upgrade for track use save their money. |

Really good feedback, I was just concerned when I saw the needle run up towards the 120c or high 240f's but seeing your numbers I feel a little less concerned. I'll put the money towards tyres or as you spell it tires. Thanks mate! |

This one seems to work pretty well. Around 110C during the Belgium's hottest days. http://www.do88.se/en/artiklar/bmw-m...re-racing.html

Some interesting data in this thread as I am debating if it is worth it to spend big bucks on the cooling system from CSF.
In my E46 I ran a Stewart endurance racing water pump which is less drag on the motor and more water flow I am from Winnipeg, and the weather does get into the 90s and the occasional 100 degree day, but seldom is it like California desert heat for the bulk of my track days. On the spec sheet for the GT4 race car, they have a metal impeller water pump (over plastic) and the only heat exchanger that seems upgraded is the power steering fluid cooler! I wonder what Luke is running. |
