It's okay, not really worth the $2000. I liked the Bang and Oluffson in my A5 a lot better, and it was only $800. I've heard many folks prefer to go with an aftermarket stereo, but I went with the premium sound mostly because it integrates so well with the iDrive.

The b&o in the a5 is much better than most car systems
Only one I've heard that is better is the b&w system in the jaguar XJ |

The standard (no extra charge) Logic-7 sound system in my 2007 335i, in my opinion, sounded as good as the premium sound system, but BMW didn't offer it as an option (or standard) when I bought my 2009 M3 So per Rshane's comment above, due to the iDrive integration, I was forced to pay the $1,900 or settle for the lousy standard audio sound

I think it sounds ok, and I have had aftermarket systems and know a good deal about them. If the only complaint is the cost of this option, then you shouldn't be buying a $70k car.

Unless you want to upgrade the unuseable standard stereo, then YES!
As an aside, I just upgraded the underseat subs with Earthquake SWS8 units. Stock placement. Added Technic's harnass in the trunk for no splicing ease (along with AudioControl LC2i LOC), and used a JL Audio XD400/2amp bridged 2X200W to power the woofers. This takes the Enhanced Premium sound to another level. HUGE HUGE improvement. Crisp tight bass that you feel, with no distortion and good definition. This is a required mod, IMO.

The other speakers are quite decent!
I think Jehnert makes a stock placement sub as well. Check the audio section here for lots of threads...... I can offer that I am a professional musician with a bachelors degree in Audio Engineering. My ears are pretty decent. The stock stereo is unuseable. Lots of distortion and mud at moderate and reasonable levels and much less bottom than even the EPS system. The EPS is not bad, but lacked some punch on the bottom. Not worth it I suppose in dollars and cents, but then again this is an M3 and you pay to play. You need the EPS for seemless integration and with the upgrade it is really good.

Sounds great....
I had the 335i Logic 7 and the enhanced on my '11 M3.
While it sounds better, I am not convinced it is worth $2k...no regrets though! May consider swapping subs, or going aftermarket powered (removable) sub box for a little extra punch. Mids/Highs seem excellent and equalizer helps.

The best suggestion -again and again, as this thread shows up every 2 months or so- is to take your favorite CD and ask your dealer if it is possible to play it on that OEM sound system. Then make your decision, because for less than $1900 the standard stareo can be upgraded to a much more satisfying level and quality than the Enhanced Audio Premium system in all sources while no OEM wires are cut, spliced or tapped and still integrated with the iDrive and the rest of the OEM audio options. |

I am fairly confident the Logic-7 in my '07 E92 335i sounded much better than the premium in my E90 M3. Granted, part of it may be the difference between Coupe and Sedan. However, I can distinctly notice the lesser mid-base response as well as a bit dulled highs. The Logic-7 was noticeably crisper.

The SWS8 is 2 1/8" deep. I suppose that is about as deep as you can go, adn the largest diameter? Alpine makes a 10" that is 3 1/4" deep. Memphis also makes a 10" that is 2.8" deep. Memphis Audio makes some mean stuff. Does it fit into a box under the seat, or is the backside exposed with no sealing? Sorry about all the questions....thanks. Sorry bout all the |

Yes, the best choice. But, in my case, I was not considering upgrading until after the fact. If I planned it from the start, that would have been viable.

Coming off Logic-7 and on Enhanced is like night and day difference. Enhanced is a much more powerfull, better sound!!!
I am very surprised some members say otherwise... maybe their EQ on Enhanced not set properly? Maybe they have no musical ear? The difference between 2 systems is just plain obvious! It also depends on what type of music you play and quality of CD etc,. It is worth $1900.... ...but to some people it is not worth $20k extra for an M3 either, so they keep driving their 335i with Logic-7

I got enhanced premium sound too... I'm glad I went with it - after reading some negative reviews I was worried that it wouldn't sound great. I'm no audiophile butfor my music habits its turned out fantastic.. it sounds great to me. Also I didn't want to deal with upgrading to aftermarket - I want to leave the electronics/interior alone on this car..
