I've been called every name in the book on here and have responded politely. I even apologized to Dooma for calling him a spoiled brat, which was an unfair hypocritical snap judgement of the same kind I was accusing everyone else of. So, I don't know what else you want, other than 100% lockstep agreement.

Don't worry, this will be my last post for a while, I'm done on the subject. But I'll check back from time to time to see how this issue resolves.

Moose...I haven't read this entire thread yet but I agree with a lot of what you are saying.

EDIT...more thoughts...

With the prolific use of the internet a lot of goods and services have been commoditized...to the extent that actual personal relationships between buyer and seller are going away...which I don't think is a good thing overall as there is value in this type of relationship.

Internet empowerment is one thing I guess but I would have tried to work this deal out behind the scenes to hopefully come away with an equitable deal for both sides...or just walked away.

I know I have messed up pricing to my customers before (vastly different industry) and had to go back to them for fair resolution...and it was done...mainly because both sides saw value in maintaining good relations.

Moby - Bring Sally Up

It's not exactly gone in 60 seconds, not even 60 hours, but still, Dooma made a steal with that car (at least for the dealership, not counting the lawyer fees). So it's way appropriate.

An Obvious Marketing Decision...

Of course Husker wants to mend things with the opposing public. Its all about good PR.

I also just registered to vocalize what a crock that AD is. I've been following this since the beginning and that dealership has the gall after all this.....

wow, wat a low, shameless plug. there was also a typo, they used the word "honorable". they also forgot alot of stuff after that sentence, like, "we had to call for arbitration b/c we tried to weasel out of a deal, but got pwned". "..we always honor a contract, especially if we get called on a "mistake"".

someone need to get the REAL story out, similar to :

I was all for magnanimity, until I saw this.

Now I feel a little bit queasy to say the least.

If they'd honored the deal straight away this would have been OK, but after 7+ days of playing hardball...

Perhaps another tune for Dooma's playlist could be :

Elton John : Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word

Funny, they do not mention the cost of the lawyer, cost of the emotional stress for Ken, or the amount of money wasted by society (900k people reading, thousands posting, etc.) to get to this result. This is way above 10k, likely in the millions (I think guestimated earlier by another member).

Yes ... and there is nothing wrong with that. IMHO, this approach will be
very well received in the corn belt.

Husker is not the anti-Christ. The reality is that we will never know which
of the auction terms were genuine mistakes ... and which terms were
attempts to spark bidding.

Fair point, but I think we can be sure that they have left out the fact that it took a barrage of negative and hostile internet posts plus legal intervention to get them to honour this deal...

It didn't mention that in the article.

Or do my eyes fail me?

Another 'mistake' perhaps?

Great find! I can't believe they did that!! I was beginning to think that Husker isn't all that bad, but this just now reconfirms my original thought about them.

Ive been following this from Saskatoon. I couldnt help myself any more and had to join up to make my comment.

I think someone from Husker posted the advert as a way of showing that in they end the dealer thinks he triumphed. But it looks like false advertising to me, at least deception. Also, I nosed on the Husker website and it looks as if the internet guy is gone, gone, gone.

If the car gets delivered then I would say all hell should brake loose again. This delaer is just bullshitting the world with his statements.

Doom hasn't told us about his attortney fees. I am willing to pay a portion just because no dealer in the future should ever be allowed to do this kind of thing again. If the internet community can stand together dealers will learn a lesson from this. So, DOom, how can I get you $25(CDN - but now it's the same thing as US)?

I, for one, have had my Fil of dealers like this one.

I *just* got the "Husker Auto Group eVIP News & Coupons" email newsletter a few minutes ago, where they link to this article.

Unbelievable.

The "Honorable" thing for them to do is to SHUT THE HELL UP!!! They were gaining a little respect the last couple of days...... now this!!! Do they think that they can just "slip in" a little statement and make things all better and life will go on. Sign me up for "THE FUND" - The legal fund- to Ken or whatever we need to do to set the record straight. Do they take us for a bunch of dummies? Let's get that car to Ken first.
