Supercharged M3 vs... ? (what car would you give up your SC'd M3 for?)

Granted I haven't done much research on supercharging my E92, but from what I gather, an ESS 625 kit will put down roughly 530-550whp?

On an F80, a simple off the shelf map flash and downpipes, which can be had for around $1100 total (or cheaper if you go used), will net you 500WHP and over 500WTQ, Spend extra for an E85 tune and you're at 550-560 WHP and similar torque.

Now if you had 10 grand to throw at an F80, you can do Pure Turbo Stage 2+ ($4750) plus full bolt ons and supporting fuel, you'll be near 800WHP.

I think the crank hub spinning issue was so rare (much more rare than rod bearings on E9x) that BMW never really addressed it. There are aftermarket solutions like keyed crank hubs if you really want complete piece of mind but 99 percent of owners will most likely never have the issue. In the rare event that it does spin, a trip to the dealer and re-timing the engine will be enough to get you back on the road most of the time. If I were to ever make big power with the F80, you betcha I'll be getting a keyed crank hub.

It ain't an M3 if there isn't a chance of catastrophic engine failure looming in the back of the owner's minds right? Thankfully there are always aftermarket solutions to address these issues.

I'm glad to hear it isn't such a big issue as some had mentioned it to be. You're right about catastrophic engine failure LOL.
I honestly just can't stand the F8x, the sound is just not the same. Performance it feels great, felt like my 135i on roids.

The 991 cars are fantastic, especially the n/a ones. They may not be perfect for you but they handle and sound incredible, much better than our e9x m3s.

I love my e9x for it’s practicality, sound, driving experience, looks and value, but the 991.1s cars are a superior driving experience, and the gt cars are not comparable in any metric at all other than the fact that they are cars.

Driven the 991.1s, gt3, and gt3 rs on the street and track. All completely obliterate the m3. 400-500 lbs of extra weight makes a big difference.

The biggest issue seems to be the F80 has trouble putting the power down with the high amount of torque and spins tires instead of hooking up. A supercharged E9x with lower torque puts it down smoothly and turns 10's with an off the shelf SC package.

I've driven a 991.1 GTS. Very nice ride but did not have the power I am looking for. 991 GT3 is much better power wise and is a viable next step, especially with the amazing warranty Porsche has put on those engines.
