Burger cowl filter for brake fluid check at HPDE events

I usually had to take the entire assembly off to check brake fluid level to tech my car. I saw this on someones signature here on the forum so I ordered and installed yesterday. The actual weight saving is only 2.39 lbs on my E92 M3 (with both cowls left/right replaced) but the easy access is still beneficial for track events and bleeding brake fluid.
After taking stock cowl off disconnect switch and pull switch housing.
I used wire to block the switch and zip tied the housing to the needless bolt.
I took even the small cover around the brake fluid reservoir off others might want to keep it.
For my purpose that look is clean enough.
I will report back in case of any adverse effects.

I don't think so. The stock filters are just lager and get the air from the same sealed area. I rode last night and the only thing I noticed is louder engine sound, not much though.

Just a left and right filter that fit directly (tight press fit) into to slots of our cars.

I just put quick releases there.

It makes it simpler and mainly because the plastic threads were getting worn out.

Have any details to share on those quick releases? Seems like a great approach.

I'll grab pics when I get home if I can.

But they are Honda S2000 trunk liner clips. You just pull 'em out and push them in.

Based on parts taken out it looks and feels like 5lbs but the actual weight saving is only 2.39lbs still not bad and for sure easier access to brake fluid.

Necro bump but I ended up just covering those holes with vinyl wrap.

You can't get air into the cabin, but A/C still works fine. When I had them uncovered, it would indeed pull hot air into the car, even when the fan was off.

Hey, it's a track car.
