Top two causes for an externally audible ticking that I have seen discussed are a stone caught between the caliper and the backing plate (trivial) or main bearing failure (catastrophic).
That car could be modded and be making a noise for a completely different reason. |

100% small rock stuck between brake caliper and aluminum sheild..many have had it. It goes away by itself. No worries.
